Why the **** is there a pressure gauge on that automoive crankshaft? The dude that drew the engineering one doesnt know a whole lot about engineering.

Ive worked with steam engines, the steam goes into the cylinder, not the crankshaft.

well yea but this is a caricature, not a technical drawing. If I had to guess I'd say the artist wasnt exactly drawing an automotive crank

that could make sense since sometimes oil flows through the inside of the crankshaft, or it could be measuring temperature, or some graphic designer just made it up

Yeah, and look at the wiring for the technology one. Some ******* cunt thought " **** efficiency, I'm gonna do some ******** ******* zigzag pattern like a ******* twat, even though no-one's gonna see the wires when they're using it unless he doesn't even cover the wires up ."

User avatar #90 to #22 - mathmanchris (12/16/2015) [-]
In IT, banks, insurance companies, stock exchanges, rating agencies etc. You want to hire mathematicians whenever there's a lot of money involved, some kind of risk or if you don't trust your economists...

I worked for a really competitive proprietary trading firm. They were always trying to high math majors. Usually they wanted PhD level math people, but I guess if you were good they'd higher someone with a masters or just an undergrad.

They got paid a lot too. I was a software engineer and they were making a lot more than I was.

If you know statistics, there'll be plenty of businesses that will hire for market analysis or maybe financial analysis
#85 to #60 - anon (12/16/2015) [-]
But a mathematics major in itself is about as useful as dirt. The only thing it's good for is research
They'd rather have someone who studied something more specific, seeing as there are plenty majors related to market analysis and simply knowing a bunch of math doesn't mean you can interpret statistics well.

My college English professor had a degree in American history. I don't think which degree you have makes much of a difference.
#25 to #24 - crlmsonhazard (12/16/2015) [-]
thats just proof that college is worthless
#28 to #25 - drewjitsu (12/16/2015) [-]
No, it taught me that you can be anything if you kiss enough ass, but you absolutely must be willing to kiss that ass to get anything in the first place. Merit is worthless, college gives you the necessary papers to begin a life of kissing ass.
#29 to #28 - crlmsonhazard (12/16/2015) [-]
But then why are so many degreed people unemployed and homeless, including people with law degrees?
User avatar #41 to #29 - sketchysketchist ONLINE (12/16/2015) [-]
That's probably because a lot of college majors expect to get the best damn jobs right off the bat.
Before it would be the case that you could get to the top by either getting a degree or working your way up.
But now, you need a degree to work your way up in many fields.

Just think of college majors as those desperate 30 year old women who date online. First they post something like, "I want a real man. No one under 6'4. Hard working and makes a lot of money. Lol I'm a real woman, who needs a guy who's at least 8inches and loves to **** between episodes of Sex and the City. "
Then they're like, "IDK why I can't find a nice guy. I just want someone to love me."
Then they're like, "PLEEEEEEASE! LOVE ME!!! I'll date anyone at this point"

Stubborness is a vicious curse. Especially for college students/hoes.
#35 to #29 - drewjitsu (12/16/2015) [-]
Because they didn't kiss enough ass.
User avatar #38 to #35 - crlmsonhazard (12/16/2015) [-]

User avatar #50 to #38 - fireskeleton (12/16/2015) [-]
First get rid of the attitude to "kiss ass".

You are being handed a task that is supposed to make the end-user as happy as you demand to become happy from doing mundane tasks as switching on a light in your house. If people worked for that, it is a nice thing, if people "kissed ass" to get it to work, the **** sparks and explodes after three uses.

No boss in any organization that is there for a few generations wants you to become their chummer. Function and don't stop other's workflow and you make sense to be in their company. That's really all there is.
#39 to #38 - drewjitsu (12/16/2015) [-]
Well we could logically dissect a joke if you want, but I need to clean up my Grande Valse Brillante by Chopin. I feel the need to mention because I'm freaking excited that I've learned it and because I needed an excuse to do literally anything but this...
User avatar #81 to #39 - SylverSlayer (12/16/2015) [-]
I learned half of one of chopin's opuses, but i'll be damned if i can remember which one.
however, if you're into chopin, i highly recommend you check out Fantasie Impromptu. It has a good balance of slow and fast, whimsical and serious.
#160 to #81 - drewjitsu (12/16/2015) [-]
Yeah, no that's a bit much for my skill atm. I'm HUGE into Chopin, but I don't feel confident enough for Fantasie Impromptu. As I clean up the Grande Valse, i'm starting the "Raindrop" prelude.

"A lot of FJ probably does"

My, my, what a wonderful assortment of non-commital nothings you just spouted. There was so much information to be had, reading that! I'm blown away!

We dont, comeon man, you know that. Alot of people are just really ******* tired of the ceaseless man hating that modern feminism is inclined to, and those are the ones people are hating on. Although I will grant you, the anti-feminist circlejerk is getting a bit worn by now.
User avatar #82 to #77 - freemanareso (12/16/2015) [-]
No, I really don't know that. It's hard to tell what people actually think over the internet, and based on many conversations i've skimmed over (Sorry for the "Wonderful assortment of non-commital nothings" I just spouted, I don't keep information like that on hand) it SEEMS like many people on FJ really do hate women. I'm also tired of the man hating too, but posting ******** like this is just as cancerous.
User avatar #83 to #82 - krobeles (12/16/2015) [-]
My reaction to the "Wonderful assortment of non-commital nothings" was really more about the words you used rather than the lack of concret proof.
Its the same as going "Scientists say..." or "Some people claim...". Its some wierd flimsy pretense, that makes people inclined to believe a lie without the speaking strictly lieing to them. I know this probably wasn't your intend, but it just irks me whenever I see it... Triggering intensifies...

I haven't gotten the impression that they hate women, although I will grant you, that it is sort of a slippery sloap with this. I have this one mate, whos almost gone total MGTOW after being exposed to this social justice ******** .
Its important to keep in mind, that although the feminists imagine themselves as speaking for all women, that isn't the case. In fact, they dont even speak for most of them. Demonizing all women due to the insane actions of a few, are exactly what the SJW want. Its the same thing as what ISIS does. They do heinous **** , in an effort to make us demonize all of the group they suposedly speak for, thereby making said group more inclined to join up with the extreamists.

Look at me weaving one political topic into another. Its almost like I give a **** about either...
User avatar #84 to #83 - freemanareso (12/16/2015) [-]
I hope more people will come to understand that the actions of a few don't represent the beliefs of the majority. A huge thing to accomplish but a man can dream..

Well the post says "men's stem" vs "womens's stem". Not "what men on average do vs what women on average do" or better "Men in Stem vs Feminists". In fact it targets the ones who are actually doing the good work, the women in stem men in stem do good stuff ofc too but they are not being targeted by this caricature. Just pointing it out due to the expected anon comment about this not being mentioned . They are the ones who tend to be not these agressive feminists and who benefit the economy. And honestly funnyjunk tends to generalize women quite a bit. Not much different from feminists generalizing men. Of course i don't want to join the circle and generalize FJ, most people don't dislike/judge negatively women in general but sexism is certainly present on FJ before you anons get triggered by the word because its related to feminism sexism is prejudice/dislike/hate of women in general

Great, now you guys have gone from anti-feminazi to anti-women, showing the same lack of ability to make distictions that turns women and minorities into SJWs who hate white males. You're not the acting like the type of person Based Mom wants you to be.

Femnists and White Knights are always the first to complain about the "lack of women"
but the reality is that women are naturally inclined to, well, lack,

Economics: Women work less ours, take more days off, and choose different careers then men, like nursing and other **** , which generally pay less then the careers men pursue. Also, the wage gap is a myth, but a small one does exist, however, it only exists because research has shown that women don't or just suck at negotiating for higher pay, unlike men.

The invention of gender studies has pretty much proven that instead of working hard a **** ton of women would rather just ******** everything, they want to have their cakes and eat it too. It ******* amazes me just what modern society has come to. It's really worse than it seems. The divorce rate is 50% (70% initiated by women) and as a man you're going to lose your kids, lose your house, and be saddled with alimony, child support, and debt. You're basically ****** . And these bitches still think they are the victims.

There really is no other way to put this.
If women truly want equality, they need to man up.

Calling things edgy is cringy, go back to 2014.
#98 to #96 - blackmageewizardt ONLINE (12/16/2015) [-]
But it fits him so well, do you have any other adjective we could abuse to describe his "hardcore" opinions that go so far into the redicilous, that it´s almost like he is wearing an lether jacket with 24 knifes attached to it?

Also Edgy can be used as Insult for People that try to be badass by acting emo or overly contrarian. So no, i don´t mean the Fashion style.
User avatar #102 to #98 - deathpawz ONLINE (12/16/2015) [-]
I mean he isnt being edgy in the first place, being edgy would be like " ******* muslims, we need to kill them all!" or "Women are so useless, lets take away all their rights again!" or "hispanics are all lazy, lets take away their beans!" LMAO, how did I come up with this one? All he seems to be saying some things that are true but is adding his own opinion in the processes thus making his statement redundant. A real insult to his comment would be something like go outside and shave that neckbeard you have, or stop circle jerking to mra memes.
User avatar #109 to #102 - blackmageewizardt ONLINE (12/16/2015) [-]
Considering that this is actuelly his honest opinion, which he will put under every Content even closely related to it, it´s extremly cringe worthy. This guys goes on and on about how woman are worser in anything by statistics, calls them emotional and unrational, just to do the same when someone corrects him.

This guy is trying so hard against SJW´s and opinions about anything even related to lefty discussions that it Looks like an ******* teen going hyper rebel. It´s so ******* cringy and he trys so ******* hard while going emo on it. Sry if he can be easly misinterpreted as an Edgy Lord. Not even considering his decision for Color to write or his acc Name.

Also im not sure that Redneck fit´s completly... i immagine their an adult that would ratheir let anyone just fall dead over instead of even shortly supress his "ma freedom!" while his wife weights more then his refigator and is able to find an car when mowing his lawn. _ He though behaves as if woman have still cutys, just goes on about as if every woman he ever meet (if) behaved the way he actuelly discribed, while beeing an giant tryhard about it. Not sure... Manchild Redneck?
User avatar #113 to #109 - deathpawz ONLINE (12/16/2015) [-]
Yeah but some of the things he said aren't wrong, its just his emotions and opinions that he added to his very lose facts are wrong thus making his statement redundant. He is acting like one of those people on 4ch that always complain about everything and say "that feel when..." That's not very edgy, sure his name and text color choice might be, but what he said is more of a negative perspective on life not an edgy one.

Instead of telling women to man up, he should be the one to do so first. Starting by not watching anime 24/7 and going outside, like anon #71 said.

What exactly is STEM. Because science, technology, engineering and math is really ******* vague. Anything is the medical field would fall under science and technology could be a graphic artist. Is STEM a degree itself, or is it under one of those categories?
User avatar #55 to #36 - ilovehitler (12/16/2015) [-]
STEM is meant to be pretty vague. Basically, if you're majoring with hard sciences, any sort of engineering, the creation of technology, or in a pure maths field, you're in STEM. Graphic Art wouldn't really fall under it, because while tech is not used, the output is not technological, per se, but rather artistic.
User avatar #54 to #36 - thegamepixel (12/16/2015) [-]
STEM is a field of study divided into those 4 categories, further into subcategories. Any type of engineering chemical, civil, etc. , science bio, physics, etc , technology computer hardware, robotics, etc. , or mathematics stat, calc, etc. degree would fit under a STEM field of study.
