Whoever decided to make deathclaws invisible is a pice of **** asshole
#18 to #4 - gideonmcallistar (11/11/2015) [-]
It was probably either to make the game more terrifying for the horror-loving players, or because it sounded cool.

The ghouls in this game are a lot more zombie like than in previous installments. They remind of the clickers in The Last of Us. Mostly because of how they move, and how my Geiger counter always clicks around them

the game look fine in terms of model and texture quality and somewhat in lighting, but for me it's just that the colors look too watered down and there's also some lighting bugs, especially with player hair. I agree, holy **** people are spoilt brats.

I found Spiderman 2 on the PS2 to be graphically amazing. Everything since then has just been an ever more gradual step into wonderland. It upsets me to see people both becoming immediately used to this, and calling it ugly.

Wow, some people are disappointed that a AAA game that was hyped to all hell, is lacking in graphics quality?

I don't personally care about graphics, but they look outdated to hell. And some textures are ugly af. People have the right to complain about what they want.
My game barely loads textures properly and most things are just a blur
User avatar #177 to #148 - maxismahname (11/12/2015) [-]
I think people think it looks bad, because when they think back to older games, they imagine them as a lot better graphically then they really are. Like I recently opened up GTA V on PS3, and it looked ******* terrible, but in my mind, I imagined it as good as PS4/PC
User avatar #243 to #68 - spoopyskeleton (11/12/2015) [-]
I'm complaining heavily about the graphics. Since half of the textures barely load properly and my rig can run the game fine.

Love the game, but when half of the textures look like play-doh (until I reload the game, then they look fine) it really breaks immersion.

Today I realized that I need to create a new character because apparently you can modify your wife's face as well (even though the bitch will apparently become pepsi, but so what because I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED).

The only major bug I've found is that the city has some broken textures on occasion that basically fill your screen with a jumbled mess. However, they may have hotfixed it or something because I haven't seen it at all in about 6 hours of play today, whereas it was common yesterday.

#29 to #24 - carbohydrates (11/11/2015) [-]
But, there is no .50 BMG in FO:4... So, we're doomed.
There's .50 Caliber rounds, but they're the freakin' rinky-dink pistol cartridges.
And we don't even get a 12.7mm pistol / SMG to put them in... They go in bolt-action rifles.

If these really are supposed to be.50 BMG. Then their damage needs to be like, doubled, at least.
As it is currently, the damn things do only a bit, maybe 15%, more than a .308 round does.
Took me over forty of these supposed .50 Caliber rounds to kill one Deathclaw Alpha.
Mind you, that fight was with a lot of sneak attack criticals for increased damage.
Would of probably taken closer to seventy of them in a "fair fight".

Deathclaws were a military project based off the Jackson Chameleon in the process it lost its ability to Camo but these ones could be a new breed
User avatar #66 to #59 - schneidend ONLINE (11/12/2015) [-]
They are made from chameleons, but they were originally built to be shock troopers, not infiltrators. But, Fallout being Fallout, why stop there?! It's SCIENCE! Ahahahahahahaha!
User avatar #92 to #66 - thewowpimp (11/12/2015) [-]
More accurately Bethesda does not give a **** about Fallout lore, so chameleon deathclaws.
User avatar #95 to #92 - schneidend ONLINE (11/12/2015) [-]
Lore changes. Or, rather, adding to lore things that the lore does not exclude is perfectly fine. Deathclaws didn't originally have the ability to talk, or be any other color but brown, but Black Isle made Fallout 2 with a talking, grey deathclaw.
User avatar #116 to #95 - thewowpimp (11/12/2015) [-]
Yeah, but black isle made the IP so they can do stuff like that.

There's not some in -game explanation of all these new deathclaw breeds or anything like there was in Fallouts 1 and 2. It's what looks cool over what's logical.
User avatar #119 to #116 - schneidend ONLINE (11/12/2015) [-]
So, the current owners of the IP can't do the exact same things its creators did? That's arguably the most childish thing I've ever heard.

There might be explanations in-game, not that a universe like Fallout needs one because it has both super-science and radiation-doesn't-work-that-way shenanigans, with an infinite supply of corrupt governments and corporations willing to abuse both. I'll give my opinion on these chameleon deathclaws more fully when and if I see one. But, so far, I've only encountered normal deathclaws, which look super ******* badass and are probably the scariest they've ever been in any Fallout.
User avatar #122 to #119 - thewowpimp (11/12/2015) [-]
But they're not doing the same thing at all. The talking deathclaw is in an enclave area and has many logs and dialogue explaining that there was a breed of sentient deathclaws, but they wouldn't take orders so they "decommissioned" them all, or most of them anyway.

Chameleon death claws exist because...?
User avatar #125 to #122 - schneidend ONLINE (11/12/2015) [-]
For the same reason regular deathclaws exist, I would imagine. "We've got all this science, let's make something horrifying we can't fully control and don't fully understand." That'd basically why 90% of the Fallout universe even happens.

Further, as long as we're talking about "logic," let's talk about the normal deathclaws Black Isle came up. They're walking tanks, mega-infantry, shock troops, so why a Jackson chameleon? Why not augment a creature, like a gorilla, that is already capable of bipedal locomotion, already has hands, and is already hideously strong and dangerous, then just make it better and bullet-proof?

Fallout doesn't run on logic. It runs on a perversion of 1950s scientific wonderment and excess. Instead of science being the road to a better future for us all, science was seen to be able to do anything, so they decided to use it do every dangerous, awful thing they could possibly think up.
User avatar #126 to #125 - thewowpimp (11/12/2015) [-]
They used that because of some science reason. Genetics doesn't work like some kind of creature builder, you can't just take a gorilla and somehow make it bulletproof. They're deathclaw operates on the logic of the setting, which is future science propelled on nuclear power. Brethesda's fallout is just whatever looks cool and apocalyptic slapped in with no real time spent to explain it. Remember, a lot of the **** that's weird and caused by radiation is actually the product of the master pumping the atmosphere full of FEV

My point is they don't even try to explain the **** they do anymore, they just put it in and let the fanboys come up with ******** to explain it.
User avatar #128 to #126 - schneidend ONLINE (11/12/2015) [-]
Science in Fallout totally does work like a creature builder, though. Mutation makes things big, and scary, more-resistant to bullets, etc. It even makes huge scorpions ultra-poisonous despite that being the opposite of how scorpions work. There's no rule in the Fallout setting that says this sort of SCIENCE wouldn't apply to non-American animals.

I think you're jumping the gun on this "they don't fukken explain it" trip. The game is like two days old. Maybe there's some logs to find about inviso-deathclaws.

Even if there are no logs, the most common misconception about chameleons is that they change colors to camouflage with their environment. Why would they NOT try to make chameleons actually do that? Maybe it was a spontaneous evolution brought on by radiation, FEV, breeding, or some combination thereof.
User avatar #132 to #128 - thewowpimp (11/12/2015) [-]
The point is they didn't make them. You go to the enclave base where deathclaws originate from in fallout 2 and there is 0 mention of any weird types like that as far as I can tell. Now, invisible creatures have been done before in fallout, in new vegas there were things called nightslatkers. However, nightstalkers are the result of the OWB super tech that surpassed even pre-war tech because they'd been working on **** for 200+ years after the bombs fell, and even then it was only because of a mysterious combination of stealthboy chemicals getting into their blood.

You don't need to adhere perfectly to science, it's a fictional world, but you still do need to explain **** . There's no logical explanation on earth for why these things can just turn invisible. None. And no, don't expect for there to be any explanation because Bethesda never does that **** . Just like with little lamplight, megaton, the purifier and whole load of other stuff that made no sense in the previous games.
