I've tried tofu before. It's pretty much just cubes of jellified phlegm. Quorn is essentially cardboard and don't even ******* get me started on soy. Enjoy your cardboard and vitamin supplements. I'll stick to my steak and burgers, thanks.

i've not tried tofu and if quorn tastes like cardboard, you've not cooked it correctly. finally you don't have to have soy to be vegan, several vegans are allergic to soy and one of the selling points on many prepared vegan dishes is that it's soy-free

firstly i understand that my comment does have vegan connotations, however plenty of my meat-eating friends who are educated in the vegan lifestyle will agree with me that you don't absolutely NEED meat unless you have a rare illness or disorder and many people educated in the matter will agree with me that as much as 70% of farmland goes to feeding farm animals, which means it inefficient

not a vegan but looked into it
it's actually not natural... our stomachs are **** at digesting uncooked meat and can actually harm it (ask any doctor). We've started eating it when we found cooking. Before we ate mostly berries, fruit, and seeds. Even cooked meat, our stomachs digest very strangely. We are still omnivores, hence it's not quite unnatural, but they're not that wrong thinking it.

that's because evolution adapted our digestive system to cooked meat, even gorillas and other apes eat meat, they eat raw small mammals without problem.
We too, most likely ate raw meat in early primate state before the first fire.

i believe you meant to say "well, the only part you got right was omnivores. we are just that. either case (vegan/vegetarian) means you are vegetable-eating, so that's the thing you have to do in order for you to live (eat meat). i don't understand why this is still argued."
well let me break this down scientifically: your point is that humans can eat meat, so we need to eat meat to survive, which is drastically false, furthermore people still argue about this because animals are not treated ethically and there is no way to kindly murder someone.

If you were a long term vegan then you would have needed D supplements, and probably iron and calcium as well if you're female. It's not a healthy or viable diet. Vegetarianism is far, far more healthy and safe.

You're right honestly, the only problem I have with vegans is that they often try to raise any kids they have in the same way and I find that irresponsible, because a vegan diet simply doesn't provide enough for growing bodies. Eating a diet of both meat and veggies is the only reason we evolved to support such a proportionally massive brain.

MYTH: Vegetarians and vegans are always trying to force their lifestyle on others.

FACT: This impression is made by the loud minority just like every other group of people; every vegetarian and vegan that I know doesn't even bring it up unless specifically asked about their diet.

MYTH: Meat contains essential vitamins not found in plants.

FACT: Vitamin B12 is found in nutritional yeast and a few other non-supplemental sources. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in Flax seeds. ALL essential amino acids can be found in plants, Whole grain rice + Lentils is a complete protein meal. ( there are many other combinations )

Anyone who says eating meat is not natural is retarded but anyone who says all vegans are stupid and incapable of being healthy are equally as retarded.

Yes this is true, you can get most nutrients from plant sources, the difficulty is in abundance, cost and nutritional equivalence. While eating a nice steak sounds tasty, eating a bowl of vegemite does not, ultimately it's personal preference. I just can't get over the idea of eating yest extract (I've worked in a microbiology lab and that stuff smells awful when it's made.)

It's really not all that difficult nor expensive to be a vegan. Vegemite is gross i agree, lol. There are many delicious vegan recipes tho: one of my favorites is roasted butternut squash with kale and almond pecan parmesan (diced nuts). A lot of the foods you enjoy are eaten by vegans: Fruit smoothies, french fries, chocolate, peanut butter, chips, pasta, etc. As a vegan I can tell you I am satisfied with the taste of the food I eat.

Veganism can be healthy, but it's not a natural lifestyle. Long term veganism requires unnatural supplementation, the Omega-3 fatty acids in flax seeds are short chain, no long chain, and things like iron, calcium, iodine, and B12 can be difficult to impossible to get a healthy quantity of for normal people or without strict dietary plans. Omnivorious diets are easier, natural, and I'd argue healthier, considering that you can more easily get your nutritional requirements and that plant protein is not as efficiently synthesized as animal protein.

If you want source, most of this is from my high school bio book. I'll see if I can find a free online copy.
