actually the middle picture is quite possibly accurate if the government doesn't raise the debt ceiling by October 17th. october 17th is when the debt ceiling is hit and if there isn't a compromise, the government will default on its debt causing the government to go bankrupt and destroy the United States credit. With the credit of the US ruined, the world will fall into a financial panic and half the world will go into a depression the likes of which would be about the same as a nuclear war. Country after Country would fail as well due to the extreme failure of the worldwide economy and the US dollar would skyrocket. if you think 3.50 a gal is high for gas, imagine 350$ a gallon. yea, that **** would happen. US dollar would be worthless similarly to the german money after WW1.

... It wouldn't realistically be that awful.

Yes, there'd be a fiasco. But it wouldn't be "OH **** NUCLEAR TIER".
What would end up happening is there'd be a rush between the Treasury and the general Executive branch to figure out what has to be cut and whether or not taxes need to be raised to handle the deficit. Yes, the credit rating would be shat on, but it's not like it was doing so hot before.

It'd be bad, maybe even severely bad, but nowhere near as bad as the premise for a ********* science fiction novel that you have written here.

I am the 2% my mom lost her job and we were already in a bad place because banks and they're stupid fees with the late fees while we get letters in the mail saying we have a chance to appeal in court because the banks were in fact illegally charging some fees but we weren't able to appeal because we got the letter a day too late.

Financial problems are bad man,I don't expect us to keep our house and i'm going to be without internet for at least 3 months.

Lol, there was already a lady shot to death because she rammed through the fortifications at capitol. I'm pretty sure she was heading to where congress was holding a meeting.

I actually wasn't even aware that our government shut down until somebody told me. I think it was on Facebook or something. My family didn't even care enough to let me know.
