High school:
You're not old enough to drive, drink, have sex, have a mortgage, have a full time job, get married, pay bills, apply to college or vote. But aparently you can choose the career you want to be in for the rest of your life.

I sued my university advisors for forcing me to do a major I hated just because I had good SAT scores.

Had proof from them writing "convinced him to shoot for a tougher major" in their updates on my uni profile.

Long story short 2 years I can never get back. Not worth the free tuition at all.

We let pre-teen mothers decided whether to create life or deny it when not too long ago they were only allowed one carton of milk during lunch and an hour of recess.

I felt EXTREMELY unprepared leaving High school. Didn't know SQUAT about loans, the basics of living on your own, etc. Had to fly by the seat of my pants thru undergrad. YAY LEARNING EXPERIENCES

i hate how during the last year of high school we are constantly told to go to college or univeristy. i mean, not everyone knows what they want to study yet, and when you're someone that takes a year or two off to work, they make you feel so guilty, "you should have gone right after high school, you are wasting your life"

My mom is angry because I don't want to go to school. I have no idea on what I want as a major/career, so I don't want to take classes that might not benefit me while costing hundreds of dollars at the same time.

I've found that college can be particularly helpful in figuring that out. Your first year at least, perhaps two, you're going to be getting core classes out of the way anyways and you don't have to pick a major immediately. Most times, people who are unsure of what they want to do find out by virtue of these classes. Chances are, you will find something that interests you, and if you don't then you'll at least come out of it a more knowledgeable person. Plus, if you end up deciding it's not for you, you need not finish. College certainly isn't for everyone, but if you're avoiding college, you should have an idea of what your plan is. Just some friendly advise for you to consider, ultimately you obviously know more about your situation than I.

One of the reasons I liked my english teacher (or language arts, whatever) was that if you ASKED to go to the bathroom, he'd just say "Try again." He wouldn't let us go until we said, "I'm going to the bathroom." without phrasing it as a question.

Which reminds me that I have to submit my grade 12 classes tomorrow. For ***** sakes they only told us today that we had to.

We should start treating kids like adults at a very young age. I progressively feel that most people i see around Lansing should not be in college.

I chose Engineering. Now I'm a sophomore, and I've realized I hate it, but it's far too late for me to turn back. I can't quit and I can't keep going. My back's against the wall now and there's nothing that can be done about it.

I think that instead of going straight to college, perhaps people should go into internships for a year or two instead. That might also help solve the problem of degree inflation in this country.

Battle hymn of lazy ***** who can't be bothered. Well, if you're not going to do anything productive, you might want to go ahead and get in on that fight for 15 ******** now.

I hope you someday know what it's like to have a college degree and earn less than $10 an hour and try to live inside on that.

Whatever career you chooses its not for life... You can always do something else
don't let the fear and apprehension of searching keep you from looking in the first place.

seriously though, if you're smart you'll survive if you work your ass off. sure not everybody has the same chances, but to me the educational sytme is the last bit of natural selection that we humans experience. and while i hate it it just means that i am not smart enough or didn't work hard enough. inb4 ********* bcuz opinion

To be honest though.

Hesitation and doubt is the sin of the weak willed.

If you're someone special then you will just go for something with all your heart or atleast have a passion for something in life.

I have a job that normally requires a college degrees but I dont have one. I never lied about it.

I just did really well on the interview and was willing to work for a lesser wage until I could prove my worth.

I read all these soap box memes about kids not being able to make decisions for themselves or about adults not being able to find work even though they have a degree, and I think to myself... maybe they're just lazy or stupid...or both

Nobody at my college asks to use the restroom, they just get up and leave and come back 2 minutes later.

It was life changing for me when my very first professor told me
"You don't have to ask, you can do as you please. Just do so quietly"
I almost **** my pants there and then with the implications of freedom.
