I am Canadian and once when I was 13 I found a purse next to a garbage can. It had credit cards and everything still in it (obviously no cash) so I looked at the I.D on the drivers license and the next morning I took 2 buses to the address and returned the purse and all it's contents. It just seemed like the right thing to do, she offered me a 10 dollar reward but I told her I couldn't accept a reward for simply doing the right thing. When I got home my older brother and his friend's called me a stupid faggot and beat me up for not selling the credit cards and demanding a finders reward (which he would have of course then stolen from me). Well you know what they say "no good deed goes unpunished"

The alpha male system of dominance is outdated since we evolved the trait of not being assholes to each other.

French Quebecer's are world renowned for their rudeness.
User avatar #58 to #23 - DmOnZ (03/16/2014) [-]
Quebec is our reparation for immense politeness in the rest of the country. To be perfectly honest, the thing is, Canada isn't overly polite... we just concentrated our rudeness into one little ****** , self absorbed, irrational, and worst of all French, community called Quebec. While most other countries have it spread out equally, which is totally normal I might add, we decided to put it all in one spot and condemn it along with the rest of the world.
User avatar #89 to #58 - hipickausername (03/16/2014) [-]
Hey, the english parts of Quebec are nice it's the french ones that want to form their own country that are the problem.
User avatar #91 to #89 - DmOnZ (03/16/2014) [-]
That is true, but keep in mind that there's a difference between Canadian Quebec and Quebec. Canadian Quebec is a place such as Montreal, where all the traditional values and morals of the average Canadian still exist for the sake of providing safe haven for true patriots. What I was referring to in my comment was the latter of the two; a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
User avatar #93 to #91 - hipickausername (03/16/2014) [-]
YES! You understand perfectly. Montreal is a great city, but the farther you go north, for example Chibougamau, the worse it gets. I really just wanted an excuse to say Chibougamau
User avatar #94 to #93 - DmOnZ (03/16/2014) [-]
Hey man, opportunities to say Chibougamau are few and far between... kinda like Montreal and Chibougamau... Chibougamau.

I knew Canadians were polite, but i didn't know they were that polite. Anywhere else, nobody would do the same. I have really distant relatives in Canada and in the US, but i've never met them.

My family would. In Lousiana, near a base, young soldiers seemed to make a habit out of losing their wallets. We returned every one we would find. I felt bad for one guy, though. Someone else got to his wallet before me and they took his money. Poor guy.

I feel as though Canadians get a lot of grief for being nice. Being American, it's hard to say this, but I respect Canadians. If all the niceties they conduct on a daily basis are true, I applaud them. **** , In America, thugs and lowlifes will rob you blind, jack your car, and not give two ***** . I don't understand why we make fun of Canada so much. It's such a genuinely nice place.

I think perhaps it's because Canadians being nice makes some people feel bad by comparison. kinda like how no one likes the goody two shoes in a group.
#32 to #20 - deezknuts (03/15/2014) [-]
nobody makes fun of canada in a negative way. we make fun of them for how much we like them.

"making fun of" means you are using a term or an identity in a humorous way. for example cancer jokes are "making fun of" cancer. the reason why people don't like to be "made fun of" originates from back when people had a lot more pride and couldn't handle jokes as easy. but to "make fun of" simply means you are having fun by messing with a person or a concept.

so essentially we like canada so much that we have fun with canada jokes in a positive way.
