It's a polydactyl cat.
They also get called ship's cat, and got that nickname
when we figured out cat's born with more than the usual number of toes on one or more of its paws are especially adept at climbing **** ,
so they where preferred on board ships to catch mice and rats.
It's a genetically inherited congenital abnormality.
Today, they are in some cases bred as a specific cat breed, with specific physical and behavioral characteristics in addition to extra digits.
