So, if that's the case, and what comes off the plant shouldn't be illegal, can I just have some nightshade berries and call it good. Not poison or anything, right?
>>#18, What he really said was, "You can eat anything except that because if you eat it you will die." Then the serpent said, "That's not true, you won't die if you eat it." Then they ate it, and they didn't die. So God never actually forbid them from doing it, he didn't make it a rule, he didn't make it illegal, what he did was LIE and then put a curse on our entire species for all eternity out of rage for discovering his lie.
Well, he said they would die, not die immediately. What I've heard about the story is that eating the one fruit negated their immortality, so in a way eating the fruit DID make them die, just over a long ass time.
Gen 3:22 NIV
And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”
Well, if god is omniscient, then he knew Adam and Eve would eat the apple before he even created them. Therefore, we can assume that he either meant for it to happen, which makes him a giant dick, or he ****** up something while creating us, which doesn't give me much faith in his ability to do god stuff.
The difference between rules and law is the consequence. So yeah it is what a law is. An action not allowed, and if you still chose to do the action, there will be consequences.
What's more they weren't taken to any court, nor judged by a jury of their peers, or given any formal accusation or sentencing, had no representatives or lawyers arguing their cases, and didn't even get a phone call
No they were exiled and stripped of their effective immortality, and doomed to suffer the pains of emotional turmoil and mortality, decay, age, hunger etc
Just because you don't believe in anything, doesn't mean you shouldn't **** on peoples faith. I understand that there is lots of reasons to go against religion, but there are lots of reasons to not go against religion as well, and we could go on forever about it fighting what's right and wrong. But the point is; be smart and keep your opinion to yourself if you know it's going to trigger an argument.
I don't know about that. if "God" didn't intend for Adam and Eve to have sex he wouldn't have given them genitals in the first place and none of us would be here. personally I believe that the "Forbidden Fruit" was more a thought process where they were convinced that knowing good and evil made them on par with God and thus became blasphemous
In Islam things that gets you "drunk: lose control of your actions" are forbidden.
Weed never, ever, made me lose control of my actions, therefore it's different than alcohol, so I smoke the **** out of it. whenever possible
Weed caused an ex girlfriend of mine to burn holes in my couch. You may have higher function while high than some, but that doesn't mean the majority of people don't do stupid **** while high. Pretty much everyone I know who smokes does stupid **** while high. I don't lose control of my actions while drunk(I have a lot of control when drunk. I don't do stupid **** ), but that doesn't mean it doesn't impair most people.
They are different things, but that doesn't change the fact that both can cause people to lose control or impair judgement.
Nah, I just find it odd that the funnyjunk community decides to discuss the particular phrasing of a passage in the bible rather than shouting at the person who makes a religion based arguement.
