No, he made a fruit illegal. Fruit=/=plant.
User avatar #2 to #1 - agrofenlas (08/24/2015) [-]
So, if that's the case, and what comes off the plant shouldn't be illegal, can I just have some nightshade berries and call it good. Not poison or anything, right?
User avatar #3 to #2 - huntergriff ONLINE (08/24/2015) [-]
Knock yourself out.
User avatar #4 to #3 - agrofenlas (08/24/2015) [-]
I'll be dead if I eat them, not knocked out.
User avatar #5 to #4 - huntergriff ONLINE (08/24/2015) [-]
Yes, whatever gets you off, m8.
User avatar #6 to #1 - thebluedream (08/24/2015) [-]
You are technically right a fruit is not a plant but part of a flowering plant. It is part of the seed dismemberment
#7 to #1 - anon (08/24/2015) [-]
I'm pretty sure God would have been just as angry if Eve ate the entire tree at once.
#8 to #7 - vorarephilia (08/24/2015) [-]
gfw eve eats everything but the fruit.
User avatar #11 - captainprincess (08/24/2015) [-]
Well he didn't make it illegal so much as he straight up said dont touch it or I **** you up

Not a massive departure from a law but yknow
User avatar #59 to #11 - infinitereaper (08/25/2015) [-]
he said we could have weed then just not knowledge apples
/rant
User avatar #50 to #11 - Daeiros (08/25/2015) [-]
>>#18, What he really said was, "You can eat anything except that because if you eat it you will die." Then the serpent said, "That's not true, you won't die if you eat it." Then they ate it, and they didn't die. So God never actually forbid them from doing it, he didn't make it a rule, he didn't make it illegal, what he did was LIE and then put a curse on our entire species for all eternity out of rage for discovering his lie.
#52 to #50 - anon (08/25/2015) [-]
Well, he said they would die, not die immediately. What I've heard about the story is that eating the one fruit negated their immortality, so in a way eating the fruit DID make them die, just over a long ass time.
#57 to #52 - blakeserene (08/25/2015) [-]
That's correct. According to the story, they basically traded immortality and an easy life for the ability to learn and grow as God did.
#58 to #57 - anon (08/25/2015) [-]
Gen 3:22 NIV
And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”
User avatar #18 to #11 - derpthefifth (08/24/2015) [-]
That's human nature.
"You can do literally anything else except this one thing"
>does the one thing
"You had ONE JOB humans!"
#43 to #18 - anon (08/25/2015) [-]
Well, if god is omniscient, then he knew Adam and Eve would eat the apple before he even created them. Therefore, we can assume that he either meant for it to happen, which makes him a giant dick, or he ****** up something while creating us, which doesn't give me much faith in his ability to do god stuff.
User avatar #48 to #43 - Churchandtex (08/25/2015) [-]
There's a passage in the bible that says God regretted creating mankind, so, even God makes mistakes.
User avatar #34 to #18 - rakogoki (08/25/2015) [-]
didnt god make human nature as well?
User avatar #36 to #34 - derpthefifth (08/25/2015) [-]
If you believe those stories then i suppose so.
User avatar #21 to #18 - captainprincess (08/24/2015) [-]
good way to get us to do something
#15 to #11 - ukobarrywewa (08/24/2015) [-]
he said don't eat it. Eve told the snake she wasn't supposed to touch it
#16 to #11 - adamks (08/24/2015) [-]
It's actually exactly what law is.
User avatar #22 to #16 - captainprincess (08/24/2015) [-]
Not really
That's more of a rule and last I checked laws differ in some technical aspect

#23 to #22 - adamks (08/24/2015) [-]
The difference between rules and law is the consequence. So yeah it is what a law is. An action not allowed, and if you still chose to do the action, there will be consequences.
User avatar #25 to #23 - captainprincess (08/24/2015) [-]
Well no
Since you don't go to prison for breaking rules
#26 to #25 - adamks (08/24/2015) [-]
No but Adam and Eve was sent to a "prison" being earth, by the authority which is god, thus making it a law.
User avatar #29 to #26 - captainprincess (08/24/2015) [-]
What's more they weren't taken to any court, nor judged by a jury of their peers, or given any formal accusation or sentencing, had no representatives or lawyers arguing their cases, and didn't even get a phone call

So no
Not a law
User avatar #28 to #26 - captainprincess (08/24/2015) [-]
No they were exiled and stripped of their effective immortality, and doomed to suffer the pains of emotional turmoil and mortality, decay, age, hunger etc

Not like a prison sentence whatsoever
#51 - anon (08/25/2015) [-]
Actually, it was like the 8th thing he did.
User avatar #27 - langweilig (08/24/2015) [-]
you know eat the forbidden fruit was just sex. there wasnt any tree...or anything. adam and eve ****** .
User avatar #32 to #27 - vampired (08/24/2015) [-]
let's go step further: there was no Adam and Eve. No God either
Mind blown from edginess
User avatar #37 to #32 - larrynonymous (08/25/2015) [-]
Just because you don't believe in anything, doesn't mean you shouldn't **** on peoples faith. I understand that there is lots of reasons to go against religion, but there are lots of reasons to not go against religion as well, and we could go on forever about it fighting what's right and wrong. But the point is; be smart and keep your opinion to yourself if you know it's going to trigger an argument.
#39 to #37 - anon (08/25/2015) [-]
**anonymous used "*roll picture*"**
**anonymous rolled image**i think he made a joke
User avatar #40 to #39 - larrynonymous (08/25/2015) [-]
Sorry, I didn't read it fully, I am such an idiot.
#55 to #37 - anon (08/25/2015) [-]
As a Christian I have a hard time believing that the Adam and Eve thing was not a metaphor.

Either way I believe in Jesus Christ as my savior and only way into heaven so it's fine to question that sort of stuff.
#44 to #37 - anon (08/25/2015) [-]
I'll happily **** on any faith that contradicts the obvious facts.

Also, I'm anon so that helps.
User avatar #61 to #37 - vampired (08/25/2015) [-]
what's wrong with arguing?
User avatar #63 to #61 - larrynonymous (08/26/2015) [-]
There is nothing wrong with arguing, but then again there is, each argumentative sides hold value but nothing is right or wrong.
User avatar #42 to #27 - arrowfrogamped (08/25/2015) [-]
I don't know about that. if "God" didn't intend for Adam and Eve to have sex he wouldn't have given them genitals in the first place and none of us would be here. personally I believe that the "Forbidden Fruit" was more a thought process where they were convinced that knowing good and evil made them on par with God and thus became blasphemous
User avatar #9 - turkeyslapper ONLINE (08/24/2015) [-]
And that law worked so well didn't it?
#12 to #9 - improbable (08/24/2015) [-]
it proves why we dont need laws because laws can be broken
User avatar #13 to #12 - blamie ONLINE (08/24/2015) [-]
Yes but laws against certain activities do in fact lessen their frequency, like with murder or rape.
User avatar #45 to #12 - sirkanesixtytwo (08/25/2015) [-]
Wow, finally, someone gets it. #LEGALIZEMURDER2015!
User avatar #46 to #45 - isolovegames (08/25/2015) [-]
Well they have a holiday for that in Ferguson. It's Mike Brown Monday.
User avatar #62 to #46 - sirkanesixtytwo (08/25/2015) [-]
That's #LEGALIZEVANDALISMANDTHEFT
#10 - anon (08/24/2015) [-]
he made 1 thing illegal but they could have everything else isn't it ?
User avatar #14 to #10 - Kairyuka (08/24/2015) [-]
You can also smoke oregano, that's not illegal
#47 - anon (08/25/2015) [-]
By that logic, killing an entire race is like saying god was wrong.
Hitler did this, but we all know that Hitler did nothing wrong.
Checkmate.
User avatar #19 - lurifax (08/24/2015) [-]
Weeeeell, technically he made the fruit of the plant illegal to consume
#35 to #19 - anon (08/25/2015) [-]
Smoking, eating and inhaling are all forms of consumption.
User avatar #38 to #35 - lurifax (08/25/2015) [-]

User avatar #41 - cfeuer (08/25/2015) [-]
"god made it, we can use it how we want"

go eat nightshade
go smoke some poison ivy
eatt brightly colored frogs legs
pet a stone fish.
#54 - anon (08/25/2015) [-]
When you smoke marajuana you do it with the intention of getting high. Therefore it should be enforced at least identically to becoming drunk.
User avatar #56 to #54 - radtroll (08/25/2015) [-]
In Islam things that gets you "drunk: lose control of your actions" are forbidden.
Weed never, ever, made me lose control of my actions, therefore it's different than alcohol, so I smoke the **** out of it. whenever possible
User avatar #60 to #56 - wertologist (08/25/2015) [-]
Weed caused an ex girlfriend of mine to burn holes in my couch. You may have higher function while high than some, but that doesn't mean the majority of people don't do stupid **** while high. Pretty much everyone I know who smokes does stupid **** while high. I don't lose control of my actions while drunk(I have a lot of control when drunk. I don't do stupid **** ), but that doesn't mean it doesn't impair most people.

They are different things, but that doesn't change the fact that both can cause people to lose control or impair judgement.

User avatar #31 to #30 - nustix (08/24/2015) [-]
Nah, I just find it odd that the funnyjunk community decides to discuss the particular phrasing of a passage in the bible rather than shouting at the person who makes a religion based arguement.
#33 to #24 - anon (08/24/2015) [-]
Actually it's an effective way to convince the GOP of legalizing pot.
User avatar #17 - reican (08/24/2015) [-]
a plant even killed a god once, then have him returned from the world of the dead, pissing off the mistress that rules the underworld.
User avatar #53 - fukinitech (08/25/2015) [-]
well marijuana use to be an herb that was used to cook with, its effects weren't as potent as they are now.
