Although I do think this woman is a bitch, it should be noted that in this context, they were talking about special privileges that reporters get, such as not being forced to reveal their sources.

There are an awful lot of kids in the comments agreeing with the idea that censoring people who they think aren't right is a good idea.

This is what happens when schools stop making Orwell required reading.

On one hand, Freedom of speech is a good thing that should not be denied to anyone.
On the other hand, no more tumblr blogs.

>this has to do with reporters getting special privileges to not report their insider sources
>people saying whatever stupid uneducated crap they want

so what!? Seriously the Right to Free Speech was founded because our Founding Fathers all had different ideas of what was right, but they all recognized that while ideas were different, and some more valid, some were uneducated and some didn't deserve the attention of a village idiot- that it was far more wrong to invoke some thought police to police what was acceptable speech and what was unacceptable, than even the worst of ideas could be.

I absolutely despise that such morons broadcast that "cultural appropriation" exists, and that entire races/religious groups should be exterminated. But I am proud to live in a country where people can broadcast their opinions, and that helps keep our government from going overboard. Any politician even hinting at hindering our Right to Free Speech should be seen as a public threat and an enemy of the State immediately. ("State" referring to the people of a nation, the area and populace that reside there, the governmental body of a nation is in no way incorporated into the "state" and remains separate, unless counting those governing as people.)

I was reading something about this the other day.
Freedom of speech is great and all, but it's the same freedom of speech that allows feminists and anti-vacciners and flat-earthers and all those happy people to tout their beliefs around as though there's still debate on these issues.

True. Fair point.
Also true, but it equally means that their opinion can be credible and arguable.
It's very difficult to reach a stance of 100% correct/incorrect on anything, much less people's opinions. So long as they have a viewpoint, they're free to argue and rationalize it however they want. Without that right, you might not well be able to say they're wrong.

I'm guessing that whoever subtitled this was a high school dropout.

And no, it shouldn't be illegal. It should be highly discouraged and trusted by no-one, but it shouldn't be illegal.
