At twilight, kookaburras make loud, long calls that sound like laughter to let all know the boundaries of their territory. The largest of the kingfishers, kookaburras mate for life, living in pairs or small family groups. Chicks are born blind and naked, taking a month for their feathers to fill in. Older siblings often help their parents with the next clutch of eggs. The birds grow up to 47 cm (18.5 in) long and weigh about .5 kg (1 lb). Their bills are as long as 10 cm (4 in). Getting all their moisture from their food, they never need to drink water. They nest in hollow trees or termite mounds.

But Kookaburra is kind of specific, isnt it? Ive never heard of that bird before, even when it looks as If I should have. How did you learn of this animal

The bird has it's own song. I remember it being sung many times on kids shows from when I was younger. 24 years old

Cos I like animals and know a lot about them. On the other hand, I don't like cars and couldn't name any by looking at them, whereas someone who does like cars probably could.

Its just that I used to search for exotic birds on the net, but always got the same ones (i.e. parrots, cockatoos, hummingbirds etc) and I would like it If you could share your sources so that my search may continue

Don't really have any specific sources, just 19 years of reading books, trawling the internet, watching documentaries etc.
