But that's just stupid and petty and makes Konami look like a bunch of ******* jackasses. I mean, what did they expect people were going to think?
It's a shame too, because Konami will not suffer any monetary pain from this, which is the only thing companies care about, because of the success of their pachinko machines.
Which is hilarious, because Pachinko is dying out pretty hard in Japan all of a sudden. SNK Playmore, who did the same thing Konami did, but years ago, are switching back to video games because popularity for Pachinko is dwindling due to new regulations. Even the Japanese legal system and public are saying " **** Konami."
unfortunately they'll just move on to their OTHER major money maker, slot machines in Vegas, they're also pushing for legalizing normal gambling machines so they can make even MORE money
That stream was one of the cringiest things I saw in a while. "Best video game streamer" are you ******* serious? Greg Miller
And then this happens, I watched that stream only to see Kojima, I had some vague hope that he was going to announce some further Metal Gear content and I was wrong in the most painful way.
Care to tell me(us?) about it? i don't think i caught it.
I only heard a lil bit of it from Funhaus and how they talked about "Best game of 2015" Which, i honestly think Witcher 3 deserves. But the moment i heard them talking about "best gamer" of the year. i thought they were ******* joking. apparently not.
I don't even know who the **** Greg miller is but jesus nearly everything i've heard about it so far is cringy I mean how the **** do they even rate **** like that? Siractionslacks makes his streams enjoyable, Broteam pill is great at making bite sized nuggets of his stream ******** .
Music- By Deadmaus- And i thought Blizzcon's Linken park was Edgy n bad.
i didn't play ori and the blind forest so i'm not going to mention it as to why i think rocket league won from what i say give me some insight for it , i loved both undertale and rocket league, game play is fun and intense at times, the music in both games is good, undertale has a good story, rocket league is something you can play with your friends, the graphics for rocket league are a lot better than undertale's, undertale is an exclusive.
though i think undertale is a better game, i can see why people picked rocket league.
As someone who played all three, here's my opinion of all of them.
Ori and the Blind Forest
The most beautiful game of the three by far. Linear, story based side-scroller, but decently lengthened and well paced, with game controls as smooth as butter. It was almost like one of the golden Disney animated movies you watched as a kid, but far more interactive; All hand drawn, beautiful animation, full orchestrated music, and writing that sucker punches the feels hard enough to rival Pixar. If there's an award for best soundtrack, best story, or best artwork for an indie game, I'm rating this one at the top for 2015, hands down. Here's a vid just to show you what I mean...
Rocket League
The funnest game. A simple enough concept but executed in a way that it got your heart racing and insults flying out of your mouth faster than the most popular FPS. The easiness to learn, but difficulty to master the varying tricks and ways to win was the key in making the multiplayer for this better than most games I've tried, and makes the experience of trying to one-up your friends even more satisfying. The car customization and detail put in the different stadiums just are icing to the cake. I'd rate it at one of the top for multiplayer gaming in general especially if it get's optimized a bit more.
Undertale
The most clever game. Undertale's appeal was how it focused more on the interactions between the game and the player than the actual story. It memorized what you did and how you reacted to the situation, and in order to find out the true story, you had to replay this game over and over again and interact with the same characters in different ways to get the results you wanted, which got you to know them more every time. It made you think and consider your actions as consequence. And it tops it off with a way too catchy soundtrack. It's hard to quantify Undertale's appeal into any award, put I'd rate it pretty high up there.
So in my honest opinion, all of them are on pretty equal footing, but are hard to compare because they're so very different styles of games. They all deserve rewards and recognition though. 2015 has been a god-tier year for gaming.
I was pretty impressed with the presentation. There was some crap (an overabundance of blatant promotions, Greg Miller getting a nonsense award and then talking for about 5 minutes too long, bizarre deadmau5 outro) but I feel like it's on the right track towards actually being the definitive video game yearly awards ceremony. It was big, well-made, and focused on actual games more often than it didn't. Plus, big props to Geoff Keighley for being willing to offer up such a blatant " **** you" to Konami. That's a big improvement for Mr. Mountain Dew and Doritos.
I would like to see them get away from reveals in favor of looking at the actual awards more, but I'm guessing that's part of the promotional side of things so that might be necessary until they have some other sort of revenue stream to set it up.
Either way, I'm glad I watched it. The whole show was maybe a 6 or a 7/10, but it showed a lot of growth and promise for future award ceremonies.
the mobile games section was a complete sham, 4/5ths of the nominees were microtransaction riddled phone apps and Monster Hunter, the only actual mobile game somehow lost to a $5 tomb raider game from the app store
Tomb Raider GO is actually a fantastic game by any stretch of the imagination. I dunno if it's the best one this year as I don't play a lot of mobile games, but it's absolutely worthy of recognition.
**meatpacker used "*roll picture*"** **meatpacker rolled image** "Uh hideo kojima uh couldn't be here with us tonight *looks down* uh *looks down* uh uhhhhhhhhhhh"
Because they're burning every bridge they can between Konami and Kojima. Last I heard that Konami was planning on moving away from AAA games to mobile games. Because ******* twits keep spending so much on microtransactions.
wow, what a bunch of cunts i don't know much about kojima but everything i see about him paints him as a really cool guy. konami is just shooting themselves in the foot by alienating someone who did so much for them in such a public way
