it doesn't that's just how this particular machine makes rows (soil with high humidity or clay content is usually needed for this affect with such machines anyway). also the elements usually quickly wear it down to simple mounds.

serious question: are you sure it's for asparagus? we grow that here and it takes a couple of years to get a mature, productive plant. this looks more like an annual planting, no?

the neighboring farmes do this for asparagus. yes you're right with the long grow of it, but it has to be done at least once
