"They are the only snake that builds a nest for their eggs". What exactly makes you think that? Perhaps the only snakes of their size to do that, I have no ide, but I can name countless smaller snakes who do build nests. Also, another reason hardly anyone gets bitten by them is because of their menacing appearance and their use of it. When you see you one, you'll run. He rather intimidates than bites creatures larger than it's regular prey.

Various sites and documentaries I have watched. I do not have the absolute full knowledge of all things so I listened to the experts. Quickly googling I have learned that there might be 1 other snake that does so. If you know any other feel free share as it would actually interest me since it's a relatively unique behaviour from snakes as far as I know.
As for the second part you said, yeah that's true. As well as the simple fact that people don't want to get bit by a venomous snake. And to add to it, a few experiments show that there is more than 50% chance that if it bites you, it's a blank bite (no venom).

Forgive my ignorance but I thought King Cobras delivered their venom through spitting and not biting.

Rat snakes are actually pretty cool. My friend is studying reptiles to become a herpetologist (searching for reptiles is often referred to in science as "Herping") . So, he owns a couple and they're actually pretty fun to hold. It feels pretty good having the snake coil around your arm and slither about.
