Yeah, OP. I can see why you would think that, considering you've never experienced what it's like.

I mean, you can probably marry your girlfriend, if you have one. You probably aren't the victim of a violent crime on a regular basis because you like women. And you probably haven't been fired from a job because you like women.

Other than in school, when are gay guys regularly physically attacked in the US? Even in school, it's anything that makes you different that makes you a target to bullying and such, especially whenever you are a person who won't fight back. Some people want to hurt people and they just look for an excuse to. Sometimes it's because you look at their girlfriend or make eye contact, sometimes it's because you're smaller, sometimes it's because you're bigger, sometimes it's because you're white, sometimes because you're black, sometimes because you're gay, sometimes because you're wearing the wrong colors.

Assholes will be assholes for whatever reason they believe is excusable.

Here in the south? Quite often, especially in rural areas. Glad I'm only here for work for another few months. Violence against gay men is down, which is great, but it's definitely still there.
