I'm a firefighter in Baltimore County. This guy should consider himself lucky. First off, don't park in a god damn firelane, its illegal, and your a douche if you do it. Secondly, we have to work too quickly to give a damn how nice your car is or if we could go around it. We've all had someone we know at least injuried in a fire, and honestly, we don't really care about breaking your window if your douchy enough to impede our job. In the year and a half I've been working here, we've not only broken car windows, but flipped a car, ripped off the doors, rammed it out of the way, or just plain put the hose under it (that doesn't sound bad until you realize the size these things can get and the preassure in them, that can flip your car all on its own). Like I said, we don't get paid to be careful of people who get in the way. We get paid to stop things from burning down. Don't park in god damn firelanes... Jesus, if I had a dollar for some of these god damn stories about people who get pissed at us, I'd have like... 28 bucks. I could buy a few burritos or a 3DS game for that.

be happy they didnt go with plan b

in some cases firefighters can get away with just flipping your ******* car over to make room for the hydrant

Karma's a bitch

The hose coming off the hydrant has hundreds of pounds of pressure going through it so in that case, they couldn't go around the car. If they did the hose would fly up and smash his bumper up anyways since they would be feeding it pressure at a resisting angle. They did what appears to be pretty standard protocol for a car parked right on a hydrant lane.

At first I thought it was a thin tree trunk.
And then I realized I'm an idiot.

if the hose is too bent it will effect the water flow or when its charged the line will just snap to the shortest path it can take and potentially cause injuries and damage to **** . the more you know

It's either that way or they hook onto the car and rip it out of the space it was in. This is the cheaper and funnier way.

If the fire hydrants were designed slightly differently there wouldn't be a problem for anyone..

But since they aren't....probably best not to park near them
User avatar #5 - atoaster (02/12/2014) [-]
Doesn't work like that. You are legally accepting the risk that it may happen to you if you park in front of an hydrant. Going around or over could bend the hose, and as you know that would stop water flow. So they just go through.

Could, have, went.

That seems like it took longer than just ignoring the car.

The hose itself can't have any kinks or sharp turns in it, so this usually is the best way. It's remarkably eary to get through the windows in a car with all of the tools on a truck..

Don't you love captions on pictures that speak for themselves?
