The entire US military hates Muslims in tanks.
Look up the Battles of Medina Ridge and 73 Easting.

just how ******* unreliable are javelin missiles? were they designed by Bethesda?
User avatar #99 to #20 - jdrinfantry (12/17/2015) [-]
All weaponsystems malfunction. JDAM success rate and hellfire missiles are still only around 90% whereas the remaining 10% can be off target by 10 meters - hundreds of metres. I still haven't heard of a failproof system.
User avatar #43 to #20 - roninneko (12/17/2015) [-]
That was what, 5 malfunctions? Considering how many of those missiles are fired per day, I'd say that's a pretty good success rate.
User avatar #55 to #43 - tazze (12/17/2015) [-]
for a missile (yes, just the missile) that costs around $78k and could very easily kill your men if it failed to launch properly, I believe 5 malfunctions CAPTURED IN VIDEO (in other words, we're not even accounting for all the malfunctions that might have occurred off camera) is a bit too many
User avatar #62 to #55 - captchakid (12/17/2015) [-]
I mean most soldiers wear helmet cams, so most fails would be caught on tape.
User avatar #66 to #62 - tazze (12/17/2015) [-]
that doesn't mean most fails end up on the internet, we could still be looking at a small percentage of the fails, and as I said, they cost 78k to make, you'd think they'd function like swiss clockwork, especially if your own soldiers' lives are on the line
#52 to #43 - hikakiller (12/17/2015) [-]
On the other hand, Martin Baker, an ejection seat manufacturer, has a proud record of never having had a seat failure other than for user or maintenance error.
User avatar #53 to #52 - roninneko (12/17/2015) [-]
How many ejection seats have they manufactured?

There are 40,000 FGM-148 Javelin missile systems in circulation, and that's just the number of launch tubes made; not even the number of rockets.
User avatar #61 to #53 - Fgner (12/17/2015) [-]
Ejection seats are bigger, have far more moving parts and points of failure, need redundancy for virtually every single one, have to be designed as to not break the ******* spine of the pilot, are hand-made, etc. They are produced in less quantity but make up for it in shear complexity of operation. This saves one life.

I should also mention that Martin Baker has been producing these starting in 19- ******** 44 and they've delivered over 73,000 units.

Javelin rockets are simple rockets with few moving parts and a computer, they're produced on a factory line and have, essentially, three points of failure: failure to launch, failure to hit, failure to detonate. And a single failure can not only take out an entire squad of soldiers, several million dollar vehicles, but can decide the outcome of an entire skirmish.

It's completely unacceptable that a $78k piece of military grade hardware has the same failure rate as, say, a video game controller made in china.

Here's a marching band playing that last song.
Which is the Soviet March from Red Alert 3. Which was a pretty damn great RTS game.
C&C Red Alert 3 Theme - Soviet March

Little (not really) funny story about that game: I was doing the Soviet campaign many years ago, and I built up a ******* of these Apocalypse Tanks, like 30, which is enough steel to flatten a continent. These thing are like ******* Baneblades from Warhammer 40k, alright? They're so big that they can CRUSH OTHER TANKS. And they can self-repair.
The mission was to destroy the building the Japanese emperor was hiding in, so I sent them to destroy everything ending with the building. Just for ***** because it was a guaranteed win at that point, I sold every single one of my buildings so my only possession in that game was these tanks. Lo and behold, when the building exploded, the emperor said "Hahaha! You think I would hide in such a poorly-defended hovel?" and the whole map tripled in size and showed a ******* more Japanese **** , and the building he was ACTUALLY in was very heavily guarded and surrounded by ******* Gundams.
lefffuuuuuckmemeface.png
I said **** it and sent all my tanks straight to the emperor's place. They were tearing through everything in their path, but also getting shot the **** up from turrets and everything everywhere. Less than half of these massive hunks of metal and guns made it to destroy the Gundams and the emperor's hiding spot. When that **** collapsed, I breathed a sigh of relief.... until the emperor popped out of that building in A SUPER GUNDAM and wiped out all but one remaining tank. Thankfully even though he had ******** upon ******** of health (enough to survive against a dozen Apocalypse Tanks), his massive gun that killed all my other tanks couldn't one-shot one of these Russian masterpieces, because he and my last remaining tank were just whittling each other down. I knew I wasn't going to make it, but through SHEAR FORCE OF SOVIET WILL AND LOVE OF VODKA my tank killed the ****** with a mere 1% HP remaining. Comrade Dmitri had been the only survivor of this whole battlefield filled with ******** .
So **** those ******* slanty-eyed ***** .

That's an ERYX, not a javelin.

The last wasn't a Javelin either, it looked to be a FIM-92 Stinger.
