It's ceremonial weaponry, probably not functional.Also, there are plenty of U.S. guards there, plus however many thousands of troops in the pic, that don't want the other guys pissed off.

My understanding is they're all blunt

It'd be basically like stabbing someone with a butter knife. A tiny bit easier, but not really. Also there would be dozens of people immediately trying to stop you
