That episode was just so spot on.

Through a complete misunderstanding a woman believes Homer tried to sexually harras her. Without going to the police she rallies a bunch of young-adults, students and the sorts, to "let the world know".

It's basicly a mass-harrasment campaign, aimed to completely destroy Homer's life. No evidence is needed, just the womans word was enough to set in motion this complete witch hunt.
The media is just sensationalistic, no evidence needed, all speculation, guilty untill proven innocent, the whole shabang.

Not untill hard and indisputable evidence is presented that Homer did not sexually harras anyone do people stop. At no point does anyone actually apologize to Homer for what hell they unjustly put him through, and the media hasn't learned a thing as the episode ends with the Simpsons watching their tv which airs another sensationalizing story.

This episode aired more than 20 years ago.

>Salem Witch Hunts
>The Red Scare
>False rape

McCarthyism is too old and entrenched to really combat. Individuals may hold certain opinions on the accused, but the law of emergent properties means that mob mentality and psychosis will always win out in short, quick, and chaotic instances like these. Everyone is so caught up in thinking they think for themselves to really think for themselves.

Even worse, the story on the news was making the man who helped Homer out look like a monster.

Unfortunately, as long as their success is entire based on the number of viewers, this isn't going away, the sad thing is that many people are still naive enough to think the medias goal is to inform.

Well seeing this many accusations, there probably is at least some truth in what is said about him. And some truth when it comes to rape is an immediate loss of all my respect for the man.

I would be inclined to believe he actually did it.

But at this point after seeing so many false rape accusations and seeing lives destroyed before any judgement is even made, and other flat out lying about it at the prompting of the social justice crowd...I don't even care if he did it. If there is no evidence to support the accusations then I am going with innocent.

And really I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the accusations are coming purely out of "oh hey i can get attention out of this by accusing a famous person i met once of rape" even if he's guilty of one.

i don't think he is only because these women waited so long to do something about it. seems iffy

It is really common for victims of sexual harassment to not report it until much later, often due to not understanding the situation or being embarrassed by it. I'm not saying anything about Cosby's case here, mind you.

nah

if he had done it there would have been enough evidence for him to be found guilty

At this point, I'm inclined to believe he is.

I won't be sad that I lost Bill Cosby, one of my favorite men.

I'll forever be sad that I lost the man I thought he was.

No I don't think he is some of the woman he slept where past lovers and most quite possible 1 night stands in which he had a lot of in the 70s and 80s back then is not the same as it was now socially he wasn't doing anything wrong then in them times. It was the media that decided to pull out his past which at been happening to a lot of old stars lately and did up things he is ashamed of destroying the other things he has done, he cant even speak out and explain him self because the media has already labels him as such. I bet you the woman are only coming out now because they relised they can get money out of this using current laws even though it was most likely there diction to sleep with them.
Anyway people should judge a man on the present image not on his past.
