Children are ******* stupid because they can't conceptualize the world outside their own individual view of it.
There was one study where a bunch of kids were told that Sally had a cookie in her lunch pail. She leaves for a while and her friend Anne puts the cookie in her own lunch pail like a greedy cunt, then Sally returns. The kids watch this and then are asked "where will Sally look for her cookie" and they all unanimously answer that it will be Anne's lunch pail because they can't understand that Sally didn't see what they saw.

Reminds me of "What is heavier, 1 kilo of lead or 1 kilo of feathers?"

I kept falling for it until I was 9. I still feel dumb looking back at it.

technically kid is right! bigger surface area has tendency to evaporate faster. so... taller one has more water.
User avatar #53 to #47 - soshibe (12/27/2013) [-]
They still both contain the same amount of water. She didn't ask "which one will evaporate faster?"

okay recently passed psych 101 and this stage in piagets steps is the concrete stage if im correct, where the kids learn about measurements and other things like when a kid cries about having one cookie, you break it apart and now there happy because they have more cookies the trick stops working after they learn better

I learned this in Psychology.

Most kids below the age of 7 are like this. They are at the "Preoperational Stage" of learning. At this stage, they have difficulty with conservation tasks. Like in this example, the fluid.

I can see by your account that you a still a somewhat new user but if don't want to get thumbed down don't sticky your own comments bragging about reaching frontpage. It's a classic mistake that often leads to a sea of red thumbs.

You should probably unsticky this comment

It is called object permanence, they do an even worse one where they pour the water from a beaker into a graduated cylinder. The kid said after seeing the graduated cylinder that it contained more
