Naomi Kizhner, an industrial designer and graduate student from Hadassah College in Jerusalem, has designed jewelry that theoretically extracts energy from the wearers own body. The ‘speculative’ jewelry is embedded into the person's veins and uses their blood to turn small wheels inside the device.
As Naomi notes, the jewelry is not meant to be a practical energy source, but a discussion piece “about how far will we go to in order to ‘feed’ our addiction in the world of declining resources.”

I don't know about the rest of you but that is ****** up.
There is no way anyone will look at that and think about how we waste energy.
People will look at that and think "That's ******* disgusting".
The whole thing is pretentious as **** and disgusting.

This **** actually made me nauseous. The first time anything has done that as far as I know.

Just imagine if the woman just snagged it on something and it ripped out of her arm.

I think we haven't reached the end yet.
In 5 years, people will have huge rings implanted into their cheeks as stretched piercings so you can see their teeth.
In 10 years, people will have their fingers amputated and reattached to their heads to look like horns.
In 20 years, people will have parts of their skin on their sides stretched out over time, then filled with some ceramics attached to their ribs to make it look like they have additional arms.
In 30 years, people will pay for dead people's eyes, then they will have them preserved and implanted into their foreheads.

Sounds disgusting? Well, sorry, but it's all gonna happen.

" the jewelry is not meant to be a practical energy source, but a discussion piece “about how far will we go to in order to ‘feed’ our addiction in the world of declining resources.""

So in other words it's just something else for edgy teens to get pierced on them, except this time they can put themselves on an imaginary pedestal for it?

You just took two awful things from this world and mashed it together.

Way to go, Naomi, you pretentious bitch

Do you dream of looking like a heroin addict and getting infection, but are too poor to actually buy heroin? Then this is exactly what you need. Buy this for only $39.95 and let your dreams come true. If you order now, you´ll get pack of band-aids for free.

I'd rather they tried to develope the tech from Dead Space with the health bar. Ofcourse still integrated into a persons system so that it accurately displays a persons health. I mean think about it, how fantastic wouldn't it be, to be able to see how well a person is physically doing.

It could save lives too, like someone getting a heart attack and **** , everyone around would instantly know, just from seeing the rig turn yellow. Or like after a car crash where the person may have internal bleeding but little to no visual damages, the paramedics or any other person helping out could see who to save first and who is barely hurt.

I HATE needles! Give me a broken arm, a gunshot wound, or even lemon juice in my eye. But keep those wasp dick pricks away from me!

as a man with a fear of needles going into my body i can confirm this is disgusting.
#33 - tapeworms (01/14/2015) [-]
Oh god, no. I could just see that getting caught on something and then being ripped out. Or bumping it on something and then it cuts through your vein. How are you supposed to move your arm normally?
User avatar #32 - mrhazzy (01/14/2015) [-]
"Art" Ladies and gentlemen... the only purpose I can see this having is in the medical world...

... Jam it into someone's arms, if the wheel spins blood is still pumping and they are alive, good indicator if you can't detect a heartbeat I guess...
#31 - anon (01/14/2015) [-]
I don't think how pretentious it is, I just think about how much it would hurt. It has to hurt, right? There's no way that needle shifting around inside your vein doesn't hurt. If I were to wear something like that, I would spend the entire time trying not to throw up from the icky feeling in my vein.
