the off-road life seems to consist of
1. my entire paycheck
2. a lot of work and designing
3. a little bit of fun on the trail
4. crying when $5000 of truck breaks on a seemingly insignificant pebble.
I originally started with a 1992 Jeep grand cherokee, moved onto a 89' YJ, fell in love with the "sport', been hooked since, hence "Big Red" as It's known at the bog runs.
"Uhh sir, I don't know who you have running the numbers, but with this weight-distribution, these things won't be able to handle tight turns at anything over thirty-five."
"But the shocks! The attachable roof! It's perfect!"
"Sir! The shocks are a serious problem! It vibrates even on the highway!"
"Pshaw, it handles like a dream."
"Sir! It handles very clumsily, off-road it is at least passable but anywhere else it seems like somebody has exposed your axle to chlorine gas!"
"Damn it, you're right! These things will ruin us, how much are we losing per unit?"
"Umm well sir, about that... It turns out we can pump them out for slightly more than dirt."
I just bought myself a 2005 taco trd offroad with 53k on it

Yes. I can confirm this as it seems to be built into their base design from the factory. It's how I lost my Jeep...which was also my first car. Real reason was a sandwich style crash caused by a spoiled hick slamming into me.
