How come nobody ever remembers to put plastic trash bags in these things? seriously they're the best camping commodity ever. They weigh nothing, take up no room, and can be used as a makeshift tarp, poncho, pack cover, sleeping bag(stuff with dry leaves), water container, ect.
Most important and left out are some good broken in boots!!!
Plastic bags and rain/wind gear is nice. i have a hennessy hammock and it's nice but you cant get in/out of it super fast and its mostly for warmer weather. A sleeping bad and tarp on the ground works great. 22LRs are nice too for rodents but instead of a take down get an over under 10/22 and .410 gauge or 20 gauge! theyre bad ass. You can take down bigger game with the shotgun and still carry a ton of 22 rounds
Also that trap and yo yo fish trap look like gimicky **** . Snares have worked awesome for thousands of years and all you need is some paracord or wire. if you have fishing line you can bend a tree branch on the tree and set a trip on it for some fishing line and that's always worked for me without carrying some random piece of ****
this is a very bare basic set up that i use, but it is essentially enough to survive indefinitely in the field, so long as water and food can be resupplied. there are other items that are nice to have but really you can get by without them.
main bag
-ortlieb drybag liner (100% waterproof and difficult to pierce)
-sleepingbag inside a bivvy bag
-smaller drybag containing a set of thermals and a fleece
-a smaller drybag containing a complete change of outer clothes, and 2 day bags containing underwear, tshirt, socks. (you rotate between the set youre wearing and these)
- spare water and food.
in first main side compartment, a waterproof jacket (gortex is best) hat, gloves. first aid kit, change of socks.
in second side compartment, food, water, cooking+ eating equipment, thermos flask, water+water purification kit, fire kit, (maybe another pair of socks)
-in top compartment
wash kit; tuppaware box with soap, flannel, razor, shave foam, toothbrush+toothpaste. a towel kept separate.
-in main top compartment, a large poncho/ tarpaulin for shelter, with string/ bungee cords and tent pegs already attached to the corners.
on your person you have a jacket with lots of pockets containing snacks, tissues, a knife, navigation stuff,
you do wet-and-dry routine on clothing. in morning change under-clothes from the day bags, and put "wet" set of clothes on. in evening once shelter is up, change into "dry clothes. cycle through the under-clothes as that gives them more than enough time to dry.
wear good sturdy boots and change your socks every 8 hours at least. the more socks you have the easier it is to cycle through them and let them dry out for next time you use them. if you bugger your feet, youre ****** .
Prep for what, exactly? Rather than looking forward to the catastrophic collapse, why not try to fix the problem, if you already know what is the problem?
