When they think of THEORY what they are really thinking of is HYPOTHESIS.

Charles Darwin, Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein were all born Christians.

So what?

you would not believe the shit I get from my family for being both a believer of Christianity and evolution at the same time...but if you inject the facts we now know through science, the bible can still make sense. (some of the stories might be exagerated, but still make sense along side science)

The universe is a huge place, and we have no actual way of confirming that everything works the way we think it does. Who knows, all of that in the Bible might have actually happened.

The thing I dislike about the whole affair is the people who believe it's the absolute and irrefutable truth either way. The Holy Bible, written by many people whom I cannot recall at this time, is a set of rules, guidelines, examples and warnings. It shapes us as we experience it, and if we devote ourselves to it, then it shapes us as people.

The true test is how we live by those rules, isn't it?
The best part about it is that all the bigots, those who act and speak without thinking and use it as a shield have failed.

I agree. but actually those who misspeak(sp), and use it as a shield to their ignorance are declared non-believers in the bible they use to defend themselves. LMAO!!

I just realize that after thousands of years and hundreds of translations, some of the text can be changed, it happens, we are flawed after all. and that some things can be so easily explained with science like David and Goliath for example. we were roughly 4ft avg height back then and an 8ft (ish) fighter would be described as a giant by them.

idk, I don't go to church anymore cause there are too many who are not even willing to just have a conversation and consider the idea of applying science to the belief as if it will break it if they do...

tl;dr people flame when I say the same thing you just said... I see it as the moral compass, a set of rough guidelines...then I get dumped on :/

Your bad luck, I guess? Over here not many people give a damn. Then again, I'm sort of a creepy mofo so not many people challenge me.

We aren't 'flawed'. That's... too rigid. Like I said, the universe is far too complex for us to actually find a 'good' and 'bad' side of things. Personally, I only view it as having one set of values which affect me whichever way in whatever circumstances.
Certainly, we have our bad points. We're not perfect - that would mean having the ability to instantaneously and effortlessly adapt to every single thing forever.
It's linguistics. Cunning is the keyword. It happens.

In this case it's both really.
