So then why is he in a bar...? And aside from all the bitching, I wonder how many people are actually aware that you can drink at 18 on a military base, if you're a service member? At least, that's they way it is here on Ft. Bliss.
It's 21 in America.
I served 4 dry years in the US Army...

I'm in America, mate, about ten miles outside of the second largest military installation in the U.S. And, to the point I was making, here's a source supporting me:
usmilitary.about.com/od/justicelawlegislation/a/drinkingage.htm
Maybe you were stationed in a min. age 21 state, but for lower age states and overseas its at the commandant's discretion.

Your stupid unauthoritive "about" link even states it is 21.
It is only 18, if a soldier is in a nation where 18 is acceptable. Except for Japan, where 18 is allowed, but soldiers can only drink at 20.
The article also state that Ft. Bliss forbids alcohol of any kind for any age.
Which would mean you made that **** up too.
Why do people on FJ post links to **** to support their idiocy and the link actually proves them wrong???

I read the entire thing.
And memorized it.
Yes, it says that, but it is 21 in all States, so that stipulation is moot.
It also states that alcohol is forbidden on bases.
So there is another disqualifier.
Read it again. And next time, read things before you post them.

im gonna call you out here. if you served four years in the army and still try to claim that military bases dont allow alcohol on them then either your lying or you just dont know. i was raised military and then joined. one of the biggest issues i had to deal with were my soldiers drinking and getting in trouble. they lived on base. base softball leagues always had beer at the end. on base.
Yeah, you were in the military, but cannot read:
"A couple of years later, the Army followed suit, prohibiting on-base drinking on its bases"
A reference to the prohibition of alcohol on base of the Navy and Marines. For decades. It also mentions the Air Force never allowing it....

it's illegal for someone under 21 to sit at the bar. you got away with it, but you were breaking the law that whole time

The under 21 at the bar thing is a new law.
Not even sure if that is nation-wide.
When I was a kid, bars were one of my most favorite places to go!
Video games, darts, dark atmosphere, music, and UNLIMITED FREE PRETZELS AND PEANUTS!!!

oh sorry, I should clarify that it is illegal in America
America has stupid laws.
As a kid pubs were my favorite place to go!

yes, that's actually exactly what the law is referring to, as anyone under 21 isn't even allowed inside a real bar as it stands, so this law serves to keep underage folks away from the bar bench at restaurants and stuff
