How did she get that in there? Does it come apart? Did IKEA make it?

I want the one from the books!
#58 to #22 - dreamcore ONLINE (06/06/2015) [-]
looks bad to me, because it has no shape.
User avatar #63 to #58 - caseh (06/06/2015) [-]
It's meant to be asymmetrical. It's made of the swords of the enemies who surrendered to Aegon Targaryen which where forged together by dragon fire. George R. R. Martin said he likes that image of the book throne because it's ugly.

**rollfourexplain used "*roll 1, 0000-9999*"**
**rollfourexplain rolls 3,520**

It's a shame the one from the books is simply too dangerous to have around as a prop.
User avatar #31 to #24 - EdwardNigma (06/06/2015) [-]
And also too big and expensive.
I understand why they didn't have it.

But god damn it if I ever become an emperor, I will make one.
User avatar #33 to #31 - blacklightsun (06/06/2015) [-]
It is supposed to be uncortable, so you wouldn't sit on much of your time.
User avatar #41 to #33 - EdwardNigma (06/06/2015) [-]
I know its supposed to be uncomfortable.
"A king should never sit easy." - Aegon " ************* " Targaryen.
Would sit on it as much as possible.

One of the most successful shows of all time that has millions in budgeting can't afford a fiberglass prop? #doubt
#48 to #47 - EdwardNigma (06/06/2015) [-]
Wasn't the most successful **** ever at the time it started though, and they can't really change it now as its become sort of iconic for the show. That said, higher resolution image of it.

Do you see this? This has ******* stairs and is made of, literally, a thousand swords. That would be a safety hazard.
User avatar #49 to #48 - plaruti (06/06/2015) [-]
I know this may come as a shock to you dude, but props are as i just ******* said made from fiberglass and would be completely safe.
User avatar #50 to #49 - EdwardNigma (06/06/2015) [-]
Mate, if you fall right onto that **** because you tripped down the stairs, that would still be pretty ******* dangerous, I don't care what the **** its made of. Are you not seeing that? They would need to be sword shaped, and thus, pointy.

And again, look at the ******* thing. It is ******* huge. That **** is what, 30-50 feet high? So for a start, it would be incredibly expensive. Second, it would be hard as **** to move and get in a building. And again, it doesn't matter what its made of, if you trip from the top of that and land on the sides, its going to ******* hurt.
User avatar #55 to #50 - plaruti (06/06/2015) [-]
yeah i guess... standing on a ladder is pretty dangerous too. and so is climbing stairs or sliding down a pole. they have entire castle sets... man you have to be trolling or something. I refuse to believe you're this stupid. anyways that's all I have to say about this, cheers mate.
User avatar #56 to #55 - EdwardNigma (06/06/2015) [-]
A flat, castle wall is not a chair taller than my house that is extremely ******* pointy.

"Nobody has ever made a dangerous looking prop for any show or movie ever"
-EdwardNigma 2015

... I take back what I said about you not being stupid
User avatar #59 to #49 - kurtislloydb (06/06/2015) [-]
I wouldn't focus on the danger part so much (even though, yeah, for a prop, it's pretty sketchy), but more on it's practical aspect. The one in the book is insanely massive. The show would probably go through a few of them. Just seems like an unnecessary money pit to me.

On safety though, imagine an actor's costume getting stuck on that thing and yanking them down those stairs. Sure, it's tall as a ladder, but I used to build theater sets, and I've never had anything get caught on a ladder. Accidents happen, and they can all be avoided.
User avatar #60 to #59 - plaruti (06/06/2015) [-]
so is climbing on all four's to get to the top just beyond your guys' grasp? **** you dont have to sprint up a set of stairs. Crawling up steps that are clearly more than 5 feet wide isn't that dangerous. Maybe a safety strap at the top? Also camera angles, CG, editing... I mean if we can make Tom Cruise look 6'2" in a movie, I'm sure someone is more than capable of making this a reality.
User avatar #61 to #60 - kurtislloydb (06/06/2015) [-]
Again though, that would make it a money pit. The throne in the show is a reasonable compromise.
User avatar #62 to #61 - plaruti (06/06/2015) [-]
If this was made from pvc, structured to a wall, then covered in fiberglass, it would cost nothing.... have you ever seen how a parade float or a set at disney world is made? why is everyone pretending to know how the budget for a multi-million dollar show works?
User avatar #65 to #62 - kurtislloydb (06/06/2015) [-]
Man, you're talking CG, editing, special effects. Sure, it's viable, but it's easier with the current throne. And it looks good. It's simple, aesthetically pleasing, and still kinda intimidating. Think about the set they'd have to build to fit that one in. I mean, sure, it's a multi-million dollar show, but they still have budgeting issues. Why else would so many storylines get condensed and replaced (aside from time)? **** man, there were actors they could have left in for some scenes to make more sense. I'm just saying, some sets can be simplified. If it's possible for someone to get hurt on an elaborate set, someone will.

One gif is fine, its just a problem when people string together like 8 2-second gifs in a single post, then Im sitting here looking at 4-6 jerky images at the same time, and it just irritates my eyes. Especially when some of them arent entirely loaded from top to bottom, so im seeing like 60% of a twitching gif, with movement all over the screen. It's just outright disgusting.
Thank you for this though, I do love me some looped gifs

Folk. It's folk. If you're going to try and spoil things with lies, at least spell the word right. Foke isn't even a real word, your browsers spell check should have warned you about that.

User avatar #67 - tormain ONLINE (06/06/2015) [-]
This has been described throughout the series and the books as the most uncomfortable chair ever made. People always cut themselves on it.

3/10 It looks great but I would never sit in it.
