This building is literally the biggest failure of all time. It goes without saying that a Hotel in North Korea is a stupid enough concept, but this was to be the biggest hotel in the world, at 105 floors. After the concrete work was almost done, the construction was completely frozen. For 20 years it stayed exactly as it was, with the crane still on top. They finally contracted an Egyptian company to do the glass on the exterior, but the inside is still unusable and considered too far gone to be lived in safely. They have one floor mocked up to show to foreign press to pretend that it's functional.

If i remember correctly, they ran out of funds to build it, so the interior is incomplete.

north korea has extremely strict policies preventing foreigners from entering the country, so needless to say it's not going to be bustling with tourists any time soon.

If countries were people, North Korea would be the equivalent of an autistic child.

OP you do realize that people go to North Korea all the time... Right?

im not even joking. when i was in china i met americans going to north Korea just for the shits of it on a tour. all you need to do is get a visa and go though a country that sends flights to North Korea.

Except that hotel is truly useless. Most often american tourists will get one of the only places in the country that have 24 hour electricity and water, which is a smaller hotel somewhere else in the city. That "hotel" is nothing more than a publicity stunt, and after the glass was put on (after 20 or something years of no further construction) they stopped working on it entirely. No water, electricity, or decoration. Just concrete. Making it the largest uninhabited structure in the world.

It'd be one heck of a place to play paintball in...

< The only way having a hotel would boost tourism.

tourists can visit the capitol, which is where I assume this is. Nowhere else though
