my dad told me that when he was a kid he used to pop out the middle of £2 coins and take the outside to a bank and they would replace it with a new £2 coin, he then went to another bank close by and gave them the center piece and they replaced that one too, so he doubled his money everytime he did this.

In Canada the old toonies would do this when it got too cold. You used to be able to put them in the freezer and pop them out. It still took quite a bit of force. Anyway, it's been impossible since the 70's or something.

lol, I think the 90's. I remember them coming out when I was a kid and I thought they were SO cool. My papa would give me a couple every time I would visit.

I did this with a one euro coin last year.
Just put it on top of a bottle, preferably glass, with an opening that will let the center part fall through, and just strike the center. use a nail or something

I couldn't have been the only one who heard the primary school legend that if you put a two pound coin in the microwave the above happens. Never tried it however, I can't imagine sticking a coin in a microwave has favourable consequences.
