Now, TURNING is a form of acceleration. So is slowing down. So a ship moving at that speed would also have to turn and slow down at the same extremely slow rate. This makes it- impractical.

With satellites I know they are falling in such way that they miss the planet and go into orbit, but down here I've read about long range shooting where the rotation of the earth needs to be taken into account.
