an think that , .
I' m not going to report the original post
as I am not sure about its origins and whether or
not OP saw this, but this kind of stuff isnt .
Artists work long and hard on these pieces which
bring nostalgia junkies like us so much happy-
ness, so they at least deserve proper recognition
for their work, if their rules are not complied
with. This guy' s got lots more great stuff in his
gallery and if you want so it it all (thornberries,
hey arnold, rocket power, ect.) check out the link
in the description!

White men stole from niggers, the niggers stole from us, we steal from them again.

The cycle continues.

"17 U.S.C. § 107

Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 17 U.S.C. § 106 and 17 U.S.C. § 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include:
the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
the nature of the copyrighted work;
the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors."

Profit is not directly gathered from the posts made on this site. It is instead made on the advertisements and sales generated by the people who visit the site to see the posts made on the site. Because of this everything on this site falls under fair use.
The news works in exactly the same way.

TL;DR Fair use means that "Stop you're not allowed to use this" icon doesn't mean anything.

You realize that you are absolutely wrong about everything in your post right?

1. Tiarajade, the original poster, did in fact give credit in all three of her posts.

2. The "You are not authorized to use this artwork" applies to anything profit based. Posting the artwork on an image board does not count as breaching terms of use.

If you want to bring it to the artists attention then go for it. If he actually does have an issue with it he can bring it up to the mods, who will happily remove it for him, but otherwise there's nothing that can be done about it.

Posting it here cost him a grand total of zero anything.
Spongebob and Micky mouse are copyrighted too but do people bitch when they are posted everywhere?

How people treat that notice but in all seriousness they should at least credit the original author

but credit was given. and to my knowledge, the artist only makes money off of prints. it's essentially free promotion.

but if the artist or really any artist dislikes the way his work is used on funnyjunk, then the ARTIST can bring the grievance to one of us mods.

random art review: his art is great but boringly similar with very little experimentation in style. Which is a shame, as i bet he could do well in other mediums. His work reeks of hipster culture, however this doesn't surprise me as deviantart has a lot of them and prints are available for sale...

While it is rather shitty he didn't give credits to the artist, that little "Stop, don't post this anywhere else thing" has no legal standing, whatsoever. Many sites do this, using the copyright "©" symbol to deter people from reusing the artwork (DeviantArt, FurAffinity, Weasyl, etc). It is truly nothing more than a deterrent and is considered intellectual property, not copyright.

"wow, poor artist, i hate people who do this. Hey guys anyone torrent game of thrones yet? episode was cash brah"
User avatar #33 - euphoricdorian (05/01/2014) [+] (1 reply)
I'm not taking sides on this or anything, but I find it a bit comedic how people flip out over not giving credit to an artist or something like that, yet quite a few people on here, if not most of the people on here, torrent movies and such and see no problem with it. That's the internet for you I guess.

in the posters defense, He did include a very good link to the Deviant Art page which lead me to the place to buy the prints, which I would have if I had money(the one with Recess if you wondering) and I don't buy a damn thing off the internet. So it was kinda like advertisement

this is the way of the internet. people find things and share them.

if you don't want your work shared on the internet, don't put it on the internet. Period. No exceptions.

If you want to profit from it, sign your work and/or put a link to your website on it, so people know where to get more. Most reposters will not remove that information. some do and those are nasty, not much you can do about it.

If you want to share something you should at least get permission from the owner. Period. No exceptions. Not doing so makes you a cunt.

I thought all his work looked alike, but I realized that I was wrong upon looking at his page. It's not everyday that you see a monkey who is also an artist.

And you're not authorized to rip off copyrighted characters, but you still did.
User avatar #24 to #22 - kyoutu (05/01/2014) [-]
Actually fan art is perfectly legal as long as you don't make a profit from it.
User avatar #29 - youhei (05/01/2014) [+] (3 replies)
i hate it when people do shit like that, the least you could do is give source in the description

nice job op
#10 - Hightower (05/01/2014) [+] (4 replies)
Maybe people would be willing to credit them if they were creating original works of art, as it is, they take someone elses idea, change it how they see fit, and claim it as their own, when in reality, if they ever tried to sell it, they would face lawsuits from the actual creators of the characters.
