For those who wonder why it's locked and fenced up, Mel Gibson and the producers of Braveheart built a statue of the William Wallace from the movie in some place in Scotland after the movie to celebrate it thinking the local culture would approve - turns out they didn't, many people believe the movie is historically inaccurate and insulting, and many people vandalize the scene, so much they put a fence around it to stop it.

that happened because people hated the statue so much due to it being based on the film, which was also mildly hated for it's extreme historical inaccuracies

One time my buddy Joe tried to explain to me that I didn't understand irony.

Which was ironic because we were at the grocery store.

I'm guessing the irony is the statue has the word "freedom" on the bottom of it and it's inside a fence.
