If he helped directly in a situation where the balance of magic was not out of whack, then his helping would put the forces of magic out of whack, and suddenly we have even more problems. Sure, he could help with crises like Fear Itself. But, what's worse, evil Asgardian hammers, or evil Asgardian hammers plus Dormammu got to show up because Strange acted out of turn?

schneidend ONLINE (01/08/2016) [-] Doctor Fate is similar. He's a Lord of Order, balance of magic, yadda yadda. Though, all of Fate's power comes from the helmet, IIRC. If he breaks the rules, he can simply lose his powers or the being that grants him the helmet can take the reins of his body entirely.
