Largely because they were already dealing with a ********* for some issues that arose from threatening to pull funding from Planned Parenthood. Everybody was attacking them, either they were baby killers or hated women's rights. The fallout from that resulted in them losing a third of their typical donations that year and the numbers still remain drastically reduced. When you're in the midst of that kind of political nightmare, the last thing you want to do is take on a controversial sponsor. Sure, they'd raise a few million dollars from PornHub but how much would they lose from the middle America moms that provide the bulk of their donations?

Also, you gotta remember that the people they're trying to help often have had things like double mastectomies. They're often self conscious about their breasts, the last thing they want is to be reminded of how people ogle over other women's breasts. Komen is dedicated to helping women through all aspects recovery and there's a lot more to it than just chemo and surgery.

And lastly, Komen regularly partners with Hooters. They sell Save the Boobs bumper stickers. They don't have a stick up their ass, they just know that they have an image to maintain if they are to survive.

Maybe the burger failed because, I don't know about you guys, but I've never even heard of an A&W restaurant.

Think they are mostly a big canadian company, because in every city I go to where I live, they are as common as Burger King or KFC
User avatar #70 to #12 - randombro (11/18/2015) [-]
They used to have decent burgers and fries, but their main attraction was the amazing root beer floats they had. A&W has absolutely gone to **** over the past 10 years. I tried them last year and it was the worst fast food I've had in a long ******* time. I even got a float a few months ago and it was pretty weak. Never going back. Wendys and Jack In The Box all the way.
User avatar #73 to #70 - heartlessrobot (11/18/2015) [-]
5 Guys is still one of my favorites though.
I hear they're uncommon though.

There's one in some obscure places, like in the airport hat I always transfer on when I go on vacation.
#47 to #12 - brandinifettucine (11/18/2015) [-]
Depending on where you live, they're somewhat common to see as joint restaurants with KFC. Although, I've only seen one that was its own thing like 10 years ago.
User avatar #49 to #47 - dagold (11/18/2015) [-]
there is a standalone in riverview michigan and port sanilac michigan than I know of.
#58 to #49 - djbz (11/18/2015) [-]
Also one in Dexter, Michigan - about 20 minutes from my hometown! It's seasonally open/closed, but as far as fast food goes, it's pretty good in my book. They're "famous" for their chili dogs I believe.
User avatar #59 to #58 - dagold (11/18/2015) [-]
I went to them all the time when I lived in michigan. Illinois has no white castle, no hungry howies, no checkers/rally's, no canton inn, and no A&W. Makes me so sad.
#61 to #59 - djbz (11/18/2015) [-]
Geeze, it's like that way out here in the southwest too, but I thought other parts of the midwest would be more compatible. At least you have Chicago if you get the itch! Besides, less good fast food means you're less likely to let yourself just east the crap and get gross on the stuff right?
User avatar #62 to #61 - dagold (11/18/2015) [-]
I'm in southern illinois, corn for miles. Most we have out here is steak and shake. The nearest olive garden is two hours away.

A&Ws tend to be sparsely placed throughout the US. I've seen one in Los Angeles, Columbus, IN, and in Fairbainks, AK. They don't seem to stick to a particular region, like Hardees or Jack in the Box, but lack significant national presence.

Went to one in Iowa once. My family was so confused when I didn't get root beer. Since I don't like root beer.
#68 to #24 - thelonestranger (11/18/2015) [-]
I don't especially like root beer either, but I always get a root beer in a frosted mug at A&W.
User avatar #15 to #12 - dangler (11/17/2015) [-]
P good. Haven't seen one in a long time, but the root beer at the restaurant is way better than from stores. Also cheese curds.

I love root beer and i gotta say that A&W root beer is probably the worst before bargain brands (of which some are better).

Also, on the spider one, It's not a heart beat exactly, but close, kinda...

So, in human muscle, there are flexors and extensors among many other things that allow movement of our skeletal DOOT DOOT structure.

With spiders, they have muscles and haemolymph which is an anologue to blood in humans, though it permeates their body and is circulated through a tubular heart to be oxygenated.

The actual movement is due to combined effort between contractions of the muscle image in reply comment allowing the spider to draw the leg back in and contractions of the cephalothorax causing haemolymph to extend the leg away from the spider.

That first one is called Toxoplasma Gondii, I did a research paper on and it's ties to human behavior.

There is strong evidence supporting the idea that humans infected with the disease live more dangerous and care-free lives, and some are more inclined to commit suicide.

Another detail: If you have a pet cat, you are probably infected. I believe it was something along the lines of 1 in five people are currently infected with toxoplasmosis.

There was just an article published about this the other day. Most cat owners weren't the least bit surprised, from what I saw.

I mean the first one (about the parasite) is cool and all, but man theres so much cooler ****** up species out there:
How about the worm that enters snails, straight up making it a zombiesnail, and makes their eyes pulsate in order to get eaten by a bird (pic related)?
Or what about a certain(cant remember the name) species of bacteria, who cause the host's male babies to become female.

and these are just some of the ****** up creations of nature/whatever you believe in!
User avatar #33 to #17 - legnak (11/18/2015) [-]
I believe that the one you are thinking about for the gender changing parasite would be the Sacculina, it infects crabs; more or less castrates them, and makes the once male crab act female for breeding season in order to effect more crabs.
User avatar #71 to #33 - silverostrich (11/18/2015) [-]
ye that was it!

Everyone else is, may as well.

The top post is referring to toxoplasma an intracellular parasitic protozoan that causes the disease toxoplasmosis. It is also present in nearly half a humans residing inside your brain.

While this has not been thoroughly tested and could be explained away pretty easily, there is evidence showing that it is possible it makes humans less motivated, more friendly towards cats and less repulsed by the smell of cat urine.

Personally I was tested for it a while back and it came back "likely positive", I own a cat and don't quite get why people think ammonia smells so bad.
User avatar #51 to #11 - dagold (11/18/2015) [-]
One of my NCOs commented that I likely have it because my cat would never, ever stop ******** (seriously, I don't know where she got it all) and I had mentioned missing my childhood cats. Thing is I think that cat was an asshole and couldn't stand the smell of cat piss so who knows.
#9 - anon (11/17/2015) [-]
The parasite in the cat also enters humans. It's called the Toxoplasma Gondii.

It doesn't normally make us sick, it simply enters our brain where it huddles up into tiny cysts and stays. Should it wander out our immune system will destroy the parasite immediately.

However it can be dangerous to a fetus, so women who are pregnant are adviced not to clean cat litter and avoid uncooked meat. It can also be dangerous, deadly, to people with a severe immune depression such as people with HIV.

The best part is that about half the people are already infected.

Although the post doesn't mention it, that brick-paving machine requires at least 1 person to stand on it and put in the bricks. Otherwise the bricks just kinda stay in a big long bin at the top.
