Input from a guy who's job depends on the movie industries success:

Everyone's seen the "Please drink responsibly" ads, and this is the same sort of situation.

You want to watch "V for Vendetta"? Pirate the **** out of it. It's not making money any more, who gives a **** , they get money from T.V. stations to show it, and you watching it online will not effect that in the slighest. Have fun.

You want to watch "Thor 2: The Dark World"? Then ******* buy a movie ticket, or wait for it to come to D.V.D/Bluray and watch it at a friends house. Or, just have sex with a guy/girl that works at the movie theater, and they can get you in for free (Most theaters give employees 3 free tickets a week).

If everyone chose to not see it in theaters, and no one shows up, then boom, it's done. No sequels. No similar titles. Eventually, no more new movies/more laws to stop pirating, even of the movies that normally would not be effected. Congratulations asshole, you just destroyed my job, and an entire industry.

"But OOOnelsonOOO... just one person's not going to make a difference.."

Hey, yep, you're right. just you is not going to make a difference. But everyone as a whole is. If something's wrong, that doesn't give you the right to do it, "because everyone else is" If you want the world to be a better place (even in a very small way) you have to look in the mirror and make that change. Others will follow suit when it becomes the popular thing.

I usually use Pirate Bay for stuff I want to try out, if I can't already find a demo for said stuff. If I like what I pirate, I delete it and then buy it so I can support the people who made it. If I don't, I delete it and don't buy it. My mama didn't raise any thieves in her family.

Then there's GTA 5 that made around a billion on the first day selling JUST to the old consoles. **** Rockstar, I like a majority of their games but they are ****** to PC fans.

On the topic of pirating movies, I only do it to older titles or ones I felt wouldn't of been necessary to be seen in theaters. Comedies? Nothing in virtually most of them that a big screen would of added to. I wish they'd reshow older big budget movies on things like IMAX more often. I'd pay good money to see all the Lord of the rings movies in theaters. Hearing "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" on those speakers again would make me one happy guy.

I pirate things because I don't have enough money and I just want to play the games. Sometimes I feel like a douche for it, but I end up doing it anyways.

a film makes more money than other flims, therefore pirating isn't hurting the movie industry. can anyone explain this logic to me?

...to be honest, i pirate games

but only under certain circumstances:

A, i'm interested in the game, but currently don't have the cash. i pirate now, pay later
B, the game is currently rare or out of production AKA mostly older titles, while places like steam and GoG are getting ahold of these titles, and selling them for cheep
C, similar to A, i'm not sure if my compy could actually run a game, so i pirate it, give it a while. if it works, i buy it, if not, i use the money to buy a better compy

Entertainment industry like movie, music or games deserve every cents of their hard work. Their products indicated to those who actually have money and willing to give their money for these entertainment stuffs, not those people who won't pay but force the industry to let them enjoy too.

Bitch all you want, but entertainment is never free.

Sure, because a major blockbuster like The Avengers is the perfectly applicable average example for every movie made by every studio in the business.

Seriously, did people actually read this content and think "Oh, yes, this makes sense"?

In my mind, if i pay the $20 to buy it on DVD/Blu-Ray, then I should be allowed to download it.

To me, it's the equivalent of backing up something you already own
#28 to #16 - angelusprimus ONLINE (11/18/2013) [-]
A lot of poeple don't know this but its legal to download a movie if you own it.
What people get caught and tried about is torrenting, and only if they seed. Because distribution is really illegal.
