User avatar #25 to #24 - schneidend (01/02/2016) [-]
For one, he's pretty much unkillable. And, physically, he's basically Martian Manhunter. shepshifting, manipulating the density of his body, etc. He just doesn't have Manhunter's ability to phase through things or psychic powers, both of which often get nullified by the villains, anyway.

Like, he just doesn't ******* die. As far as I know, he literally cannot even be cut by a sword. Deathstroke or Wonder Woman could swing greatswords at him all day and his skin would just form around the blades and never take any actual damage.

>>#109, >>#29, >>#24, >>#25, >>#84, well to answer a few things:

first of: martian manhunter used to be afraid of fires, but it wasnt his kryptonite like they tried to sell it here(he has tanked supermans heat vision to the face before) but they just needed to get superman out of the picture since having him on the opposing team would tip the scales a lot (martian is pretty much equal to superman in all aspects...)

second of: o brian himself is not only highly hard to kill, he is a lot more wily and creative with his powers, not to mention effective fighter. and you all need to remember that that goofy attidute of his is just a front to what used to be a high ranking gangster in gotham city.

and lastly to chipmunk: there are actually comic book series with even higher death rate... i think kingdom come, final crisis and earth 2 series had a lot higher kill count (earth 2 specially..all of justice league dead, most of the other superhero teams, dead, barbara dead, bat family is mostly dead. only about a handful of heroes survived the whole ordeal..)

Back in the day Plastic Man was about as popular as Batman and Superman. That fell off when Superhero Comics started taking a much more serious route. He's still a pretty cool character though, despite how generic and bland his name/superpower is.
User avatar #33 to #16 - meroune (01/02/2016) [-]
I think the first time I saw him was in the Batman: Brave and the Bold show. One of the main reasons I liked it was it showed a lot of less common/well-known heroes and villains, and yeah he's pretty great.

Valid question. I wanna say people are goading over "money" value which incidentally still makes Aquaman worth more since he has domain over, literally, 75% of the whole goddamn planet, and all of its subsequent resources but in a universe where we have people shooting gamma radiation out of their asses and retaining the capacity to survive total global destruction, wheres the real value?

There's a reason you don't see the near godlike characters. Canonically, they don't "care of the trivial quabbles of mortals...unless its a universe wide issue", but realistically, they could bend Superman over a table and mentally force him to enjoy it despite Gary Sue driven immunities to psychic influence all just by being slightly inclined to maybe be interested in seeing it happen...kinda..."you'd have to remind me."

Money seems a bit...irrelevant at that level. The capacity to stave infinite bordom becomes the real treasure.
User avatar #54 to #51 - maybehuman (01/02/2016) [-]
I verily enjoyed this reply, you made quite an interesting debate idea. though power and immortality is richness on its own I was just curious as to the possible amount in dollars that the king of Atlantis may possess. is it composed of lost treasures of did they mine it on there own, or do they have a different type of currency?
User avatar #59 to #54 - lolollo ONLINE (01/02/2016) [-]
I'm not all that familiar with the canon to be able to give a confident answer. What I do know, from what I have seen, is that they had to give Aquaman this obscene apathy about Atlantis in general to be able to justify having him hang around at all. Otherwise, if you're the king of 75% of the planet, you're gonna ******* go wherever, which doesn't always include "where the action is." He would probably along that line of having "enough to afford not to care".
User avatar #60 to #59 - maybehuman (01/02/2016) [-]
that in itself may be the answer, " enough to not give a damn"

It's become some 'stupid' stuff though, everyone/thing joining Superman making his body invincible, and all that would be needed to stop him was Flash driving his fist into his heart. But the Flash went to his side it seems and became completely against his morals and such. The start was nice but now they're pulling every ******** way to make Supes completely immortal, bet the Dragon Balls will come in play soon the way it's going.

#56 to #53 - applescryatnight (01/02/2016) [-]
there is a reason, and its a good reason at the start, but they drag it on and superman just gets more bitchy as time goes on.

basically he kills lois by accident, and then in a depressed state he tries to make sure nobody ever commits crime again by going dictator mode.
which would be fine, for a short bit before he comes to his senses or the justice league talks him out of it, but it turns into a 4 year long war. and he would probably realize he was on the wrong side after he kills a dozen or so of his old friends.
User avatar #9 to #3 - thenewnuggubler (01/02/2016) [-]
The Injustice comics are written to go along with the Injustice video game(s). I don't wanna spoil it much, but basically Joker ***** up big time in metropolis, pisses off Superman, and Superman flips, pretty much all superheroes have to side with or against Supes. He more or less becomes a sort of supreme dictator of Earth, rivals kinda being led by Batman. It's been going for a few years now, introducing and killing off lots of characters. It's kinda like a comic series dedicated to the Batman v. Superman thing.

Superman ***** up, keeps going with it since the collective embarrassment of how unnecessary and evil his actions are would only be fixable by throwing himself in a black hole.

I never liked Injustice. I feel like it pushes the characters out of their normal personality and force each and every interaction far too hard.

As far as the 'moral' goes, it's absolute **** . Part of the comic should be to decide, in the end, who is the good guy and who is the bad guy, but it's so bloody obvious that all the writers like Batman more and want the reader to side with him that it's ridiculous.

And of course Batman is the good guy because he's always the good guy. Never a comic or showing of Batman being in the wrong, ever, otherwise his fans would **** themselves with rage.

>>#41, well the way i saw it is that indeed, while the comic has gone down to vigilante shill with batman in the forefront. it started out with a good question.

which one is better? to be morally just. or be right?

superman, represented being right. he brought down the amount of crime, death was in all time low. humanity could have been great. at the cost of couple of dozen of deaths and the loss of freedom with superhumans ruling over humanity.

batman represented what it means to be morally just. humanity deserves to be free. not under tyranny, even if it means crime and warfare are more rampart. this is also the main stance of superman in the canon comics.

and the way i see it: batman has one HUGE flaw. he is as insane as the villains he fights. but unlike them, his insanity is fixated on justice, which is why he cant follow superman and the crew in this comic, or go againts his rules to kill people like the joker and so on. because his own insanity doesnt allow it. i think grant morrison makes a great comic about it, in arkham serious house on serious earth. it showcases how bruces sanity was slipping. and he was becoming more and more of a judge dredd kind of absolute justice system, but he managed to accept his insanity, and grow better because of it. he still struggles with it, but he tries to be a better man. not defined by his flaws.
User avatar #38 to #27 - needsauceadmisblan (01/02/2016) [-]
i think its more like going for the independent Vegas option in fallout new Vegas. everyone does their own **** how they see fit through common law, of course this is kinda mixed with the idea of mutual destruction. but of course no body wants to hear that.
User avatar #41 to #27 - Ruspanic (01/02/2016) [-]
I can't comment on Injustice, as I've never read it.
But as far as Batman goes, he's ultimately nearly always a good guy but he's got plenty of flaws that are frequently pointed out. Namely how he treats his Bat-family. Sometimes he just straight-up does bad things, like that time he went nuts after Damian's death in the New 52 . He literally vivisected Frankenstein and tried to force Jason Todd to relive his own death in order to figure out how to bring Damian back.

Also, here's a story of Batman being corrupted by power:

I swear that almost all the fans of Injustice only look at the pictures and don't read the ******* words in the comic. How do you guys figure that Superman is the bad guy? I keep seeing the word "dictator" being thrown around but Superman doesn't force anyone living on Earth into slavery or pass any laws. The only thing he enforces is "no large scale violence." How does that make him a dictator?

The only thing it comes down to is simply the death sentence. It wasn't until recent years that our 1st world countries have frowned upon the death sentence and the biggest argument for it is that an innocent man could be executed. All other arguments for it are the opinion of the minority (ex. "even murders shouldn't be executed because it's just bad" is an unpopular opinion). The Joker, was in fact without a doubt a murderer and Superman killed him, big ******* deal. Before you point out Oliver, I will just say that Superman accidentally killed him which would be a manslaughter and Superman had thought that Oliver had just attacked his parents. Court of law, 5 years max, if we're talking realistically though, because of Superman's service he would get community service.

Batman, however, just sold out all of humanity to a Greek God who smited all of the Earth's churches and would have forced humanity under an actual dictatorship had Batman's plan been successful.
User avatar #127 to #58 - iqequalzero (01/02/2016) [-]
He is a dictator, because while he isnt enforcing laws or ruling humanity, his word is law when he decides something. Just because he doesnt leverage his control that much doesnt make him any less of a dictator. He has the power and can do as he pleases.
#99 to #58 - anon (01/02/2016) [-]
You're leaving out the part where he destroyed the entirety of Metropolis while under Joker's influence, smart guy.

Also, killing Oliver couldn't legally be called manslaughter. Beating someone to death isn't an accident. Plus there was that time he murdered nearly every Green Lantern, including an entire planet, and in the game he executes Captain Marvel for daring to question him.

Get over it, he's a dictating dictator who dictates. He wasn't elected, he just decided that after he was tricked into murdering a few million people, it was his job to control everyone so they wouldn't do the same.
#100 to #99 - toosexyforyou (01/02/2016) [-]
Metropolis was destroyed by the bomb that the joker had set?

Technically it would be called manslaughter, he didnt "beat someone to death" he 1-shot him and it was still in defense of his parents because from his point of view he just saw Oliver shoot an arrow at his parents. "In the game" irrelevant.

What does he dictate? All he has changed is that criminals are caught easily and no acts of violence are allowed. He could but he chooses not to dictate how people live their lives, he hasn't done anything wrong. Tricked into murdering a few million people? Are you still talking about the bomb that the joker set off in metropolis? So Superman not being able to find the bomb in time to destroy it makes him responsible for murdering those people? No, that's retarded. The joker was responsible for it and Superman kill him.

This is the type of argument these people agreed with and I'm going to call out all the brain dead retards on this: XTakedownpaladinX, gabrielcortez, thetoxicketchup, gffishdragon.

He's enforcing his rule on the world as a self-appointed leader that rules by his conscience, morals and ethics. It doesn't matter if the person is completely good and only does good things for the world, if you're a dictator then you're a dictator. Period.

I have a mixed position when it comes to whether it makes supes a bad guy or not so that's not why I downvoted you. I downvoted you because you're saying supes ain't a dictator.

Because Supey killed Lois.

When you're Superman, you don't have an excuse for using lethal force against a totally normal person with really good aim. He could have just as easily incapacitated Oliver and he chose not to. Ignoring the fact that he later killed Dinah, and allowed members of the League to murder soldiers just following the orders of their superiors.

Are you forgetting that he enforced his peace by attacking countries at war? That he threatened to destroy Atlantis? That they don't even allow any civilian protests? That they built their own prison for criminals, abducted criminals both off the street and from other prisons, and shoved them down the Marianas Trench?

I'm pretty sure "follow my laws or I will murder you" is exactly what a dictator does, ******* . I can't tell if you're ignoring him killing the Green Lanterns, Alexander Luthor, Captain Marvel, Oliver Queen, Dinah Lance, a hell of a lot of soldiers, plus a whole lot of attempted murders, or you're just too dense to look at the pictures and see them.

>Doubting Plastic Man

This man tried to cut the oxygen from Luthor's brain and almost succeeded till Batman and Superman pried him off

Plastic Man was harboring an alien brain parasite that enhanced his powers and was making him violent and aggressive like all the other heroes

SuperGirl, PowerGirl, Starfire, and Martian Manhunter pretty much destroyed all of Gotham
