I doubt it would work. Even if it did have a reaction it would just kind of bubble. Also who the **** finishes a soda that slowly?

think you can do this :
you will need
> new un-opened coke bottle
> 1 mentos
> sewing needle with some string
now you just poke the needle with tring trough the mentos and make a knot at the end so it wont fall of the string.
now open the new coke bottle and put the mentos in the part where the bottle cap covers the bottle ( and mentos in this part) let the string come down and screw the cap back on and cut it with some scizzors to you wont see the string either.
now the first one who will open the bottle, will make that mentos fall into the coke.

It wouldn't, the water/ice would probably destroy the surface thingy that causes the effect
Even if that didn't happen, the ice wouldn't melt evenly and only a part of the surface would be used...

The act of pouring it releases most of the carbon dioxide. This will never work.

I dunno about you but i finish my drinks before the ice melt

Wouldn't work. The water would erode the shell of the mentos, preventing the diet coke from getting inside and causing the reaction.

It does work.
Its not as straight forward as it seem tho, first you freeze the Mentos, then you wait until the water is almost frozen then add the frozen Mentos to the almost frozen water.

The coke won't shoot out of a glass like it does in a bottle tho, but the coke will expand and it will spill quite a bit, just make sure to refill their glass if they are drinking fast, if the cup is like halfway empty or more it won't spill, also the more cubes the better.

What you do is get them to go pour a drink.

The trick: Hide mentos in the cap using the fishing gut method and wait for them to open the bottle... And let fun commence.

But how does one freeze a mento without it exploding beforehand?
User avatar #27 - zuflux (07/20/2014) [-]
Actually, I'm pretty sure the combined time and water-off from the ice cube melting will be sufficient to downgrade the fizziness of the average soda so much that it won't much more than burp offensively in your direction, before sinking to the bottom.
