No you didn't. It takes up less space now.

I like you, random user.

Thanks, all in the name of tenths!

Was interesting in getting either a K10 or K11 once... Mind asking for specs? I know a thing or two about the K10, since my friend has one he's been in the process of turbo'ing for the past couple of months. Currently has an MA10, should have a T25 he got from ebay some time this summer. Hopefully.

Oh god, where to start...

'95 K11 1.3 5 door
'99 UKDM GA16DE engine with custom 5.7kg flywheel, 190mm clutch, stock exhaust manifold and custom 1.5" exhaust and 2" intake (for optimised mid range torque), running a '93 UKDM B13 (100NX) GA16DE ecu. PAS/AC and water pump delete now running just an alternator and an EWP80 electric water pump controlled by an arduino. Mated to the RS5F30A gearbox (1.3 micra box)
Suspension is TA Technix kit for an Opel Nova, with custom top spring cups and Matt Humphries Polybush topmounts at front, TA Technix Opel Nova rear shocks and custom made spring adjuster base to fit stock spring location. Spring rates are 300lb fronts and 225lb rears.
Brakes are stock rear drums and 247mm vented front disks from a UKDM '99 N15 Almera
Bucket seats, 3 point harnesses, Super S clocks with tacho, momo steering wheel and absolutely everything stripped. Including dash.

Got nothing on my mates 256hp K11 though...

I absolutely love it when one either goes the most subtle of ways (ie, your sourcing of OEM ECU's for relatively similar engines, shocks for other cars, stock gearboxes, focusing on front brakes, the lot), or balls to the walls way (your friends, and his ******** of a pig of a turbo).

Kudos to you both, guys.

You'll love what I'm doing next. Triumph Spitfire with either a supercharged MX5/Miata engine and gearbox or a 5 speed RX8 engine and gearbox haha

Oh **** would I love to have you live close by. That sounds bloody brilliant, man. You also reminded me of this gem;

I think I owe to give you what I'm planning myself. I have a Toyota 4A-F engine with 218k km's on it. I am now in the process of removing this engine's head then putting on a 4AGE head instead (twin cam, fuel injected originally, double cam gears. Lots of aftermarket availability. Fits directly on the 4A-F block) I bought off the internet. A Weber DGAS 38 (which is usually a carb put on 2.5L Jeeps, or 3.0L Capri V6's, and not 1.6L econoboxes) is going there, since I had the carb in store already. This carb was once on a drag racing Ford Fiesta with a 1.6L of sorts in the early nineties.

Pic is of the carb itself with the manifold from a supercharged version of the 4AGE. It was the only manifold that can be used for the 4AGE head, and the carb I'm using. This mess of a frankenstein of an engine should be going on my Corolla sometime next year, hopefully, if I have the time anyway...

That's cool, that could be a right laugh! So why are you going carb and not using the fuel injection from tge 4-AGE engine too?
And whereabouts are you based?

"That means more costs."

Choosing EFI means more costs, that is. At least for now.

Because I don't like seeing this carb sitting on a shelf collecting dust. Although fuel injection is better at just about everything from power, to calibration, adjusting itself even to temperature, altitude, and fuel grade, even fuel economy, I still have a soft spot for carbs, especially Weber carbs. I know I'm going a step back, but I find a Weber carb to be heaps more interesting than EFI.

On the other hand, I still have respect towards an EFI system. If I'm ever gonna go the EFI route, I will opt for an aftermarket ECU rather than factory ones, even if factory ECU's respond well to mild cams, and sometimes even turbos or higher compression pistons. That means more costs.

It's not really a refined sort of thing I'm going for. More like being an obnoxious 21 year old with a dying form of air-fuel mixing methods, and junkyard parts for the **** of it. It's more of an experimenting thing, rather than building the ultimate road-going engine. A couple of laughs done from parts I either own, or the cheapest route (while still being relatively operational), together with a couple of friends on the weekend.

I'm from Malta - underneath Sicily.

I can get behind that, that's what the K11 was for. But at the end of the day, I'm an engineer trained, and it's about time I did a balls out feature piece to showcase my abilities (and shut up a few critics!)
Well good luck, and maybe get some photos uploaded when you get done with it? (Well, done enough that it runs!)

I am studying engineering too, going into my final year next October, yet the money isn't there yet haha. Who knows, maybe one day when I have a job and the money, I'll do something more apt and something less questionable with that engine.

if funky engines are your bag, I'd find somethinf nobody has really bothered trying to tune and go mad on it
