I voted that I would head back in time and use my abilities to save my brother from murder, my cousin from getting run over, stop some of my friends from committing suicide, warn myself not to get into a relationship that wasted 6 years of my life, Stop myself from falling off a wall therefore preventing a long term back injury, convince myself to join some of my fandoms earlier, get my younger brother out of a bad relationship sooner, Save my younger brother from some unneeded scars, talk to some of my friends before it is too late, redo some of my college work better, etc, etc.

traveling forward in time is impossible.
allow me to explain. as much as David tenant says other whys, time is a line. Cause and effect. so for something to happen their must be a cause. if we try moving forward in time we are not creating any causes, therefor no effect would happen thus nothing would change and nothing would happen.
if you want a picture imagine a line with an X at the present. everything past that X is blank paper. for all intensives purposes it doesn't exist. and going somewhere where their is nothing is impossible because as i have said, their is nothing, empty, void.

Actually, traveling forward in time is the ONLY difinitive way to time travel as far as we know.

Special Relativity explains that time is experienced in different ways by different objects according to their relative velocity. The faster you move the less time you experience. If you could build a device that would travel close to the speed of light you would in essence be traveling through time because you would age much, much slower than those who are not traveling at that speed.

Traveling back in time is theoretical possible but to do so you would probably die. You could either use a einstein-rosen bridge. You build one end of it now, and the other end of it many years from now and then you would be able to pass from one end to the other. This method is limited to the time that you made it, so you couldn't go back any further than that. The other method is to use a black hole to warp light back around on itself and then travel with that light to a younger version of itself. The only issue here is that there is no way to escape from the black hole so you're stuck wherever you went forever.

Time is not a limited directional force that has power over everything. It is merely a measurement of our distance traveled and entropy gained.

Get the number for the jackpot for a lottery. Then go back in time and buy a ticket then quit my job. Implying that there are no paradoxes though.

I give you an even closer tie, as well as an incredibly relevant video to this topic.

my vote is for neither of them, i don't wanna mess up the flow of time

Is the past predetermined or can my actions change it?
Can I travel back at will?
Can I bring anything with me?
Would anyone even be able to understand English in the future?
Do I get to choose the location I travel to?
Do I get a sexy, Scottish redhead to travel with?

Too many questions. Can't decide.

its simple, if you're white you go to the past. if you're not white, you go to the future.

If I was guaranteed that I wouldn't **** anything up or create any paradoxes, I would definitely go back in time.
That way, I could tell my parents to force me to do sports from a very early age so I could be successful at something. Then I'd sit me down and have a very lengthy Birds & Bees-esque talk where I tell me how important it is that I grow up to be big and stronk and not fat so I can win the girl of my dreams

I would stay in the present.

Going to the past and maling one slip up could affect your timeline, and knowing too much about the future can be dangerous.

The future because if you think about it, the past sucked
User avatar #5 - alphabetaanon (03/12/2014) [+] (10 replies)
I voted future.
1. Maybe they'll invent a time machine so I can go back anyways.
2. If I go to the future, I can't **** up any timeline(s).

However, when I think of it.. If I go back in time, even 5 minutes, I have a clone of myself and can go backwards and forwards in time, and since history always repeats itself, the past kinda is the future.

You're trying to say that we can change the future, but we won't experience it, right?

Future, i want my ******* license

I would want to travel to the future, i already know a lot of key points in history, why not see what kind of things are going to determine how people live when none of the people currently on earth are still alive
User avatar #58 - watermelloon (03/13/2014) [-]
if i could change the past, I would. but because i cant. Im going to travel to the future to know what decisions not to make. :|

I'd go back to 2003 and bet everything I have that Greece would win the Euro's the next year. Would become a billionaire, NOBODY saw that coming.

Gather Information about inventions, science and modern inventions, pack spices, salt, gold, some modern technology, medications and weapons, travel to the past, be hailed as a genius and savior to mankind.
User avatar #47 - temporalguardian (03/13/2014) [-]
Definitely past. There are tons of cool things in the past that i'd like to see, where as the mystery of the future frankly scares me. Dont feel like seeing anything before its time.

Well, to be honest I'd say the future is better since i can not possibly understand the implications of a paradox. Akin to killing your own father before you were conceived, I do not know if I would cease existence or begin to exist outside of time. The future on the other hand can not affect your existence (or your ability to get to the future to change it) and simply being human I'd probably immediately find out winning lotto numbers for some big jackpot and, upon my return, ensure i win said jackpot. So long as i do not know who won the jackpot (or discovering it was myself) through a means that would reveal the winning numbers no matter who wins it. This would prevent a causality paradox and allow me a nice comfortable life.

That really depends on if im able to take back stuff or not

There are certain points I want to visit in the past, but far more I would like to see in the future.

My vote: UFO Commander (to the Future) - Jesse Cox Tribute
