That's the primary purpose of tumblr.

These ******* inbred whiny pissants have found a place where they can stand up on their soapboxes and BAWWW to the heavens and make everyone around them go 'Wow! Your fourth grade gym teacher was wrong! You ARE a special little snowflake, and you're so, so important!'. It's not about being 'triggered', it's about something not being specifically catered to them.

Modern child rearing techniques have created such a black hole of common sense that it's actually physically painful to look at. The tumblr community is the bastard child of the 'Political Correctness' and 'Every Child is Special' movenents, creating a community where people can quite literally not grasp that someone else not only doesn't /like/ them, but doesn't /care/ about them.

They quite simply can't grasp the concept of someone thinking they're a weapons-grade douchenozzle, and as such, take incredible offense if someone doesn't bend over backwards to make sure they're super-duper happy.

Their ideal world is kindergarten, where the teacher made sure everyone played nice, shared their snacks and never, ever had something mean to say.

TL;DR: They're so self-centered that they honestly can't grasp the concept of someone not catering their every word specifically to make them feel super speshul.

Supposedly it's like PTSD, some event in their life scared them so deeply that certain things immediately remind them of an incredibly horrific experience and they break down. Most legitimate examples of this involve brutal rapes, or being trapped in a burning building, or stuff on that level.

In reality though, it's a lot like people claiming they have OCD or Autism online, they exaggerate to draw extra attention and sympathy to themselves, so they're like "A tree branch fell on me as a kid so seeing a tree triggers me have some sympathy!!!"

For people who have legitimate cases of this though, the advice is solid. Really people like that should the internet at all costs, but certain Tumblr communities aggressively enforce safe spaces for people with even the fake cases of this.

Natural Selection needs to be allowed to run its course. Evolution is attempting to correct itself.
