Another pressing issue hitting American schools is whether Creationism and Evolution should be taught together. "In the U.S. alone, 90% of people identify themselves as creationists in one way or another and would perfer creationism and evoluion, or just creationism be taught in schools" (Answers in Genesis). During my independant survey I found that, when asked about both evolution and creationism being taught together, only about 70% of the respondants felt comfortable with both being taught together in schools, and nearly all of the religious respondants admitted being uncomfortable with a version of intellegent design that is not from their religion being taught to their children. It astonshed me to find out that, despite the previous results, 100% of the participants felt comfortable with evolution being taught to their children, despite 18% stating that they did not personally believe in evolution (survey). The most common response for the answer being that evolution is a study of the physical evidence, rather than being a religious belief, which it seems many creationists fail to realize. This could explain why there is so much tension between atheists and theists, as a common answer among those who didn't want creationism and evolution being taught together stated they didn't want someone else forcing their beliefs on themselves or their kids, and that people should be free to choose what they believe.
The fear that atheism is trying to replace or force something upon religious people seems to be a likely reason for why religious people have a distrust of atheists. This being said, 33% of people felt atheists had less rights than religious people, while another 19% felt that atheists are being oppressed by religious groups, where as only 4% of people felt that religious people had less rights than atheists (survey). The fact of the matter is that religious groups do indeed have more rights than atheists, and more regulations protecting these rights, especially in the employment field. As mentioned earlier, racial, gender, and religious descrimination is all punishable under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and an employer may not deny a qualified applicant a job due to his or her religious beliefs, yet there are far fewer regulations and laws set in place to prevent descrimination of atheists. Starting a religious establishment, such as a private school or recreational facility is also more leaniant for religious people. For example, a person could make a "jewish only" college, where as it is illegal to make an "atheist only" college and deny someone access due to religious affiliation. Religious people are also given special priveleges in tax benefits for establishing churches and non-profit organizations, and priests also get special tax exemptions.
The annual ammount churches and clergy men are exempt from paying due to special tax codes only granted to religious organizations is roughly $71,000,000,000 (The Yearly Cost). That is $71,000,000,000 that could be put back into the economy, used to help research deseases and find cures from ones we have already discovered, or even be used to pay off the trillions of dollars of debt we've gotten ourselves in. But because churches are able to file themselves as a "non-profit" organization, they are able to recieve not only the typical tax exemptions, but also special ones only granted to religious organizations, such as the "Parsonage allowance", which is only applicable to clergy men (Tax Almanac). Why the "parsonage allowance" is so significant, is because under the current tax regulations set fourth by the IRS for ministers and church employees make it so that they are not supposed to be able to exceed $50,000 to $51,000 a year (IRS). However, the Parsonage Allowance has made it possible for the leaders of some of the most commercialized churches to afford multi-million dollar homes by tapping into the money recieved from tithes, which are considered "donations" by the IRS. While many supporters of the churches may argue that, yes, the money is willfully given up by the congregation to the church, and it is thus acceptable for the clergy men to use it as they see fit, under rules and regulations that non-profit organizations are strictly held to, any money gained from donations to a non-profit organization that are used on non-company related expenses is considered either profit, resulting in the organization losing it's tax status as a "non-profit organization", or embezellment, in which case the head of that organization can be held prosecuted (IRS). So the leaders of non-religious, non-profit organizations can not use the money donated to them in order to pay for million dollar homes or anything that they would personally benefit from, but the leaders of churches can, simply because there are special religion based tax codes. Another issue this presents, aside from the fact that not all of the money goes towards helping the sick and needy, is that there is a very loose distinction between a cult and a religion, and that, as Anton LeVay proved by founding The Church of Satan, you do not even have to worship a god or gods to get a church made after your religion.

I turned this in again for my senior reserach paper (different school).
But yea, sorry if it sounds edgy/ whatever, i was a sophomore at the time, my topic was athiesm in the u.s.

normally, i just reply to people on here to be funny/ **** around, but i think i'm actually going to give my honest opinion.

I don't like confession bear any more than you do, but considering the memes/ trends that go on here, it's almost impossible to get thumbs up without bandwaggoning.

Now i realize that thumbs don't mean anything, but it would be nice to atleast try to see how far up i can get on front page and also, see what people have to say about what i did.

as for me ruining it?
Doge, Dolan, MLP, and now with admin supporting and rewarding trolls/ jerk comments on here, i'd say that me and my one post have not ruined funnyjunk, as this account was recently unbanned.

TL;DR
This is something i legitimately felt bad about doing, and i agree that Confession bear is overused/ misused, but there are much worse trends that have been popular on here before i made this.
