When I was 5 or so I had a houserooster.
I remember how far he ran around after my german shepherd got fed up with him and bit his head off.

I plan to remodel there house when sping arrives with individual boxes in hopes they might start laying again if not then Ill just butcher em all and freeze the meat then get a new stock of em.
User avatar #35 to #34 - corso (02/10/2014) [-]
Hopefully it works

I fear that it will be to late....they might reach there peak of laying before I can build the new house so I might just kill em and start fresh..Idk...doesnt really freak the neighbors out to much ( I live in a heavy mexican area) they just watch and laugh mostly. They are good neighbors so I give out chicken when I do butcher for them being cool about. (IE not calling the cops cause city limits)

XD lucky ****** also since you have chickens maybe you can help with my issues. The polish have started laying eggs like 3 days ago I found the first eggs now its been 3 days and nothing. Same as my other chickens they just stopped laying at random its weird there not that old, I have a heat lamp to help with temp, there diet is good but they just said fak you I dont wanna lay nomore. What do?
User avatar #21 to #20 - corso (02/10/2014) [-]
Maybe you just have a chicken snake. They tend to go in and eat the eggs
User avatar #22 to #21 - LordoftheBacon (02/10/2014) [-]
Intresting....any idea how to help with it? The roosters are a little aggresive should I move one of em into the major pen with the female chickens? Maybe he will take command or whatever?
User avatar #23 to #22 - corso (02/10/2014) [-]
Nope, you have to kill the snake. Otherwise it'll keep coming in and eating the eggs
User avatar #24 to #23 - LordoftheBacon (02/10/2014) [-]
I dont know where your from but Im from Oregon,USA its pretty rainy and we dont have alot of snakes that get that big I mean there all pretty small also Im still considered in city limits so never seen anything bigger then 7-10 inches mostly red and yellow racers...Idk

I live in Texas. How long ago did they stop laying?
User avatar #26 to #25 - LordoftheBacon (02/10/2014) [-]
about 4 months ago...we only just got snow like 5 days ago other wise its pretty much sun/rain pretty normal they were laying around 3 to 6 eggs a day then BAM nothing.
User avatar #27 to #26 - corso (02/10/2014) [-]
Could just be the weather. Ours always tend to stop laying when it gets colder
User avatar #28 to #27 - LordoftheBacon (02/10/2014) [-]
Thats pretty much what I already knew...but the polish are in a seperate pin and they just layed a few days ago...do roosters eat/peck the eggs by chance? I know im new to chickens but I like em for the eggs and meat.
User avatar #29 to #28 - corso (02/10/2014) [-]
I don't think that happens often, but I know ours don't. Usually chickens never peck an egg, but if you drop one in front of them and it breaks they'll be all over it and eat it all up.
User avatar #30 to #29 - LordoftheBacon (02/10/2014) [-]
so...in theory if over crowding caused a chick to crush the egg the other might eat it?
User avatar #31 to #30 - corso (02/10/2014) [-]
I suppose. But that's why each hen sits in a box and the roosters just go where ever
