Because being all of the above takes skill and being a murderer takes nothing besides intent.

That's a pretty weak argument. I love GTA and can not stand censorship, but still.

parents blame video game for violent behavior.
If only there was a rating system to tell the parents that the game is too violent for their child

this game would turn you into a murderer faster then GTA could ever do.

Actually, there has been research showing that the people who do stuff after playing violent video games are mainly people with pre-existing violent tendencies, meaning that they they would likely commit a violent act without playing the game. The control group did not become more violent after playing the games.

TL;DR: Vid-yo games won't make a perfectly normal kid into a monster

But playing Planetside 2 as the New Conglomerate still makes you a blind fool with a misguided concept of freedom.

Why indeed?
I've seen this post and made this response before, but that was three broken marriages and one account lost to Russian Roll-ette ago, so I'd say it's been long enough

It's called tendencies. FIFA made me want to become a football pro, Total War made me want to become a general and Assassin's Creed inspires me to rid the world of corrupt assholes. I'll never pursue a career in either of these as they are nearly impossible to accomplish, but the thought is there. Becoming a murderer takes no skill, just being cynical.

Of course, GTA doesn't make you a murderer, and is just an excuse, but it's still something that can inspire weaker minded people. This logic is similar to "hurr, what video games did the Crusaders play?" Just because people used to be violent before doesn't mean a modern video game can't make people violent now.

Dude have you ******* tried playing GTA IV after getting used to GTA V?
If you do, and don't murder at least six families you deserve a ******* diploma man

Because a handful of ****** kids with ******** parents with possible mental issues decide to replicate what they did in a video game and make us all look bad. that was more ranty than I wanted it to be

I don't believe that video games cause violence, but in truth I can see why some people would think that.

The truth is, we don't know if video games affect our behavior, simply because a 12 year old cooking mac and cheese with his mom after playing "Cooking Mama" doesn't make headlines and cause multi-million dollar scientific studies on the matter.

the idea is that they make you want to try to do what you see on the game. nobody said it makes you an expert on anything. i really hate defending this kind of **** but this post was so stupid i had to.

or you know, it's a step on the road, playing NFL while give most people a wanting to play the sport, not sure surgeon simulator gives much wanting to be a surgeon, but I am sure it could give some thoughts in that direction, phoenix definitely gives you a wanting for searching for clues and figuring out a good way to build your argument, chef game gives ideas and thoughts towards cooking, so unless you guys are complaining about people saying you become a murder, and not just that it gives you thoughts towards it, then I don't understand you can be so dense
TLR no it doesn't make you a murder, but it does give you thoughts and ideas that are murderous

because people need something to blame and that is an easy target

I agree with your side of the issue, but not your reasoning behind it.

An impressionable child would want to become a football player, chef, or lawyer from playing those games. Similarly, a child may want to commit crime as a result of playing violent videogames and such.

Is this a fault of the videogame? Of course not. Media made for adults is not appropriate for children, and it is at the discretion of the parents to make sure they don't introduce inappropriate media to their children.
