For what it's worth, when Marvel announced the movie they said that they hadn't officially cast him and they were just in negotiation. So for a couple days we can at least hold out hope that negotiations fall through and they cast Oded Fehr like they should have from the start.
Not to mention that he looks nothing like Dr. Strange. There are so many decent actors that actually resemble him, and of course they pick long necked crumplesnatch.
His face looks like what you would get if you took a bunch of random facial features and stuck them together, then stretch the whole thing vertically. Dat voice though.
"hey kevin, you know how every other marvel movie represented the greastest parts of the comics to the best of there ability?
"yeah."
"that was ******* stupid, wasn't it? let's just put baddick qbert-patch in there so a million idiotic fangirls will obbess over it!"
I'm glad people agree with me that Benedict wouldn't be good for Dr. Strange. He's creepy and not cocky like Dr. Strange starts off as. It needs a strong guy who can **** bitches and not look like an alien.
Can a comic expert explain to me why it's Captain Marvel now and not Ms. Marvel like I thought it's been this entire time? Comicexplain, I could use your wisdom right now.
Captain Marvel has been traditionally a different entity, separate from Ms. Marvel. The Captain was a Kree Military officer who was sent to observe Earth. Disagreeing with the Kree's malevolent intent regarding this planet, Mar-vell (The first Captain Marvel) broke away from the empire, and vowed to protect Earth from it's enemies. Blah bleeh blah blah blah Mar-vell ***** a military lady named Carol Danvers, who is then held as leverage by one of Mar-vell's villains. She's caught in an explosion of a Kree device, and her DNA melds with Captain Marvel, thus Ms. Marvel was born. The original Captain Marvel also dies of cancer, which sucks pretty bad. There are also a ******* of other Captain Marvels, but Mar-Vell and Ms. Marvel are easily the most popular and ultimately more prominent compared to all the others.
I'll probably get thumbed down to all hell, but this trend in superhero movies is getting to be very redundant. Don't get me wrong, I like a good superhero movie, but after seeing half a dozen of them in the last 3 years, It became monotonous. At the end of the day, none of them are really ground breaking and are just attempts to cash in on a fad.
im gonna be honest, i didn't like the avengers. i thought the characters were acting immature for a bunch of adults (although robert downey jr. was entertaining, but still inexcusable regardless). it wasn't that funny, and there were just certain parts i didn't like.
guardians of the galaxy however was AMAZING and now that i know they recognize the nova corp, i wanna see a Nova movie. i like his design and his concept and i would like to see that.
or seeing a crossover with these 2
Hah... it amuses me that it seems we have had exactly opposite experiences. I didn't overly enjoy Guardians of the Galaxy because it seemed too childish and slapstick for me (though some parts were surprisingly good and dark.) The Avengers on the other hand I enjoyed because it was quintessentially, well, comic books. Amusing if a bit homogenous characters, great action, and funny one-liners. Well, sort of.
To each their own. I enjoy talking about movies, and you actually went into detail why you liked or didn't like something (more than just 'this is the best thing ever and if you don't like it you deserve to get smothered by a carcinogenic yoga mat')
I agree. I have a soft spot for Ben Kingsley, though, so I do have some bias. But I enjoyed the movie for what it was. I'm probably not going to watch it again, though.
I'm surprised so many people compare it to Lego Movie. I really didn't see that many similarities (and I liked Lego Movie less.)
Lego Movie wasn't bad, but I suspect that I just missed a LOT of various references and such. I didn't grow up with legos available, or many of the movies that were apparently parodied. So I suspect a lot of the charm was lost on me simply because of ignorance. Without getting the references, I just didn't find it all that entertaining, though again not a waste of time like some movies.
i honestly dont think it has that many references, other than to their own products.
i grew up with bionicles more, but i still love the brand, so maybe im a bit bias myself here. but i do think its a fun movie. better than a lot of other **** ive seen (maze runner im looking at you)
I don't really understand the fascination for those movies.
Watchman, the new Batman movies and the first Iron Man were pretty good.
But other than that they seem standard and stupid to me.
I hate to say it but I agree. They're fun summer flicks to watch, and it's cool to see comic book heros on the big screen, but majority are not something I'd watch again. Exception besides those you mentioned is Winter Soldier
theres an animated movie with him i think and basically hes magic man. for some reason he makes me think of hellboy and the bprd but i know hes not anything like them.
Woah, woah, Woah...they're making captain marvel? As int he awesome female secret agent Captain Marvel? with the super tight clothes and the energy blasts and **** ? **** YEAH
your tastes are ass backwards. agents of shield is getting really good now, and gotham has been **** from the beginning. absolutely no direction in that show. I will never recommend it.
I guess i just never really liked the Agent Coulson character and never found him particularly interesting. I have to disagree with you on Gotham though. Well i can understand someone not liking it, i think your completely wrong about the direction of the show. It's clear, at least to me, that they are trying to keep it engaging and gritty for the casual watcher but still bring in the eccentric interesting characters that made people fans of the comic books. It's a difficult line to ride but i think they do it pretty well. Plus I think it's unfair to judge a show on its 'direction' when we're barely 6 episodes in.
well they aren't very good at character development either. the show is all over the place and you can make those assumptions 6 episodes in. that is a hell of a long time to establish characters, plots, ect. the show is garbage, the acting is decent, and the writing could be a hell of a lot better. at any rate, I'm not wasting my time with it anymore.
After seeing the massive piece of **** that was Thor The Dark World and then making Thor a chick really makes me not want to see anymore of his movies.
To be fair, the comics industry would be ******* dead were it not for the movies.
SJWs already infested it and turned it into this cesspit of overly political correctness ******** . Comics used to sell millions of copies and be labeled a "Moderate success"
Now they're a "Mega Success" if they sell more than 100,000.
Then the Iron Man movie came out.
Robert Downey Junior basically saved the comics industry.
I feel like DC and Marvel are just going to over saturate the superhero genre so badly that everyone will lose interest regardless of the quality of the movie, especially with all of the sequels they are making. Not to mention that they are scraping some B list heroes out for movie. I mean, Black Panther? Captain Marvel? Weak.
