But what if vegans start growing their animals like vegetables, then all the carnivorous humans will die of starvation

Coming from a viewpoint that isn't vegan -

you're pretty retarded for hating vegans. I'll bet you got your opinion by reading Tumblr posts, hm?

Don't go making something up now that I've said that.

I get what you mean, but I still relate to these posts, because being a vegan can be easily used by certain people as an excuse to be rude. For example, my old roommate was one of those "how does the flesh of a poor animal taste?!" and "Look at this video of cows in cages, look at it! how can you be so evil?!" Yet, almost once a week he would indulge in a burger or something, and I would have to listen to him bitch about it, like "wahh but it's soo good, I'm sorry baby animal! nomnom" It took a lot of patience off my hands, and so i kind of laugh when i see a post like this, because i don't imagine a proud vegan being destroyed, I see my stupid roommate crying because his tomato looks like a little baby ducky. There's just certain people in the world, we have all met them, and sometimes they're a vegan, but they're almost always advocating something and being rude about it.

they should do a show like survivor man but send in vegans to survive in the wild and see how long it takes them to realize they need the caloric capacity of meat to survive

The simple fact is we have 7 billion mouths to feed, so do we replace all fields with agricultural machines dependent on artificial fertilizer, which is harmful in many ways to our ecosystem(not just as a chemical, but as a resource we must manufacture), or do we just let the nice, pretty cows eat the grass, fertilize the soil, and provide high calorie meat? I wish humans would just stop reproducing already, so we could live less violent lifestyles to survive, but I also don't think shaming people for eating meat, when its the only way we as a race can survive, is okay. =P

Yes, only about 10% of the calories contained in the food eaten by animals is available to be consumed by the predator, and this is a serious problem in industries that seek to satisfy our western craving for meat-related products, such as in many Fast-food chains. I'm merely noting that the use of cows and goats is ranch-raised environments reduces the amount of manufactured products and energy required for calorie production. I do not believe we should cut grain to feed factories of meat, but I do believe that meat has played and still plays an important role in feeding the world, and in some cases is much healthier for the environment, because it requires less human intervention. I would prefer to replace such animals with machines that autonomously collect calories from the environment, use a portion for self-power, and deposit nutrients back into the soil, while bundling up a nice portion as food for humans. Sadly, a cow is the closest we have to this, but we're getting there. There are many strings attached to anything we do, including producing fuels to power machines, whether it be ethanol or hydrogen or oil, and the fertilizers are no different. To summarize, I approve of cows as little self-sufficient food machines that we utilize to produce food from inedible sources, for the selfish sake of our own survival, which many deem more important. I would love to stop killing precious life as soon as we figure out how to produce phosphate without strip-mining, which is the only reason we can produce the non-animal food you describe, and let me tell you, its non-renewable at this point and cows are.

I don't know how many vegans are going to be eating the 5 tomatoes you grow in your garden, but okay.

Incorrect. Even vegetable shaped animals would be made of delicious meat.
