But the scene where Nami and Sanji were Scared of tarantulas and Usopp was ice cold, totally won me over. He can be badass when it's really needed, and he'll be a scared bitch as well. But at least he owns up and shows what he's worth in the end. That makes him a great character to me

just because a show is popular means it isn't good? that makes you a hipster and a weeaboo It may not some dramatic, artistic masterpiece, but it is still entertaining, and that is the point of a television show.

Okay then define 'good" if it does xactly what people in the entertainment business are supposed to do: entertain. I mean it isn't GOOD good, but it can be good.

"good" in the sense you mean it isn't really a good way to describe something like a tv show, because it is entirely subjective. it is all up to personal preference. If you want to be objective then a good show is one that excels at what it is meant to achieve. A tv show is meant to garner views and public attention, to the ends of generating advertisement revenue. Naruto definitely achieves that. it is highly watched and everyone knows what it is. hence it is a good show.
now what i assume you mean by good (something that is well thought out with an engaging and exciting plot as well as deeper themes) is something that is subjective. What one person thinks is "good", another thinks is trash or else rom-coms and soap operas wouldn't exist . so saying that it isn't a "good" show means absolutely nothing to the opposite group.
