can someone explain this to me? When we are conceived aren't we derived from sex cells?

Simply put every atom in your body, my body and in our entire galaxy was once part of a star, millions or billions of years ago.
You do not simply exist at some point, you are made of other atoms, and eat things, helping you become bigger and yada yada if you do not get the point by now no point continuing lol.

All heavy elements a.k.a. other than Hydrogen and Helium are created in the cores of stars and released when they die. If stars didn't die the universe would be composed only of stars, Hydrogen and Helium. Obviously life as we know it doesn't exist in and on stars and requires more than Hydrogen and Helium so life and as an extension we couldn't exist without stars dying. The sex cells you speak of are themselves made up largely from the matter of dead stars.

Just to add to that, nuclear fusion in the stars is what causes elements besides Hydrogen to form. Hydrogen has one proton, and when two fuse together it gives a single atom two protons, forming Helium. This continues until greater elements form when the stars die because all the atoms are slamming into each other.

stars begin their limited ifespan when they start producing iron and heavy elements. they eventually grow in density and heat until they form neutron stars and explode or a while

Jesus died for your sins
A star died so you would exist in the first place

“The amazing thing is that every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics: You are all stardust. You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded, because the elements - the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution - weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars, and the only way they could get into your body is if those stars were kind enough to explode. So, forget Jesus. The stars died so that you could be here today.”
