I tell you, the scenarios on 1 are far better, keep your copy of 1 installed to play through those. But if you're looking for more content and a better sandbox, grab RCT2 and install OpenRCT.
I found a usb with my old rollercoster tycoon files from back when I was eight.
I had this one park, voted best in the country in all categories the perfect park...
but it had a dark secret...
if you go toward the back of the park you will find a little fenced off area with only people with red shirts. there is a long pathway built out of fences and stores, there's no pavement just grass so everyone is confused on where to go.
People are constantly buying food from the stores but with no way to leave and no restrooms they end up throwing up and/or pissing on the sidewalk. there are no garbage cans either so everyone is tossing their trash on the ground.
So now you have the basic idea of what these stupid ******* reddys are treading around in but it gets worse. Every in-game day I take a random reddy from the mass of confused redshirts I own and place him or her in a single block with the entrance to three different roller coasters. All three are are unfinished. And all three are pointed at a different part of the path. Which ever one he gets on is the part of the path that gets blown up.
Also once a day I look and decide which square of people die. When I have made my decision I raise the water levels of that square until everyone in that area is completely submerged in water with no hope of breathable air.
But lets be honest with all this death going on we can't have people escaping and telling the world whats going on. Oh no, that would be terrible. So I placed 30 guards to stop any hooliganism nonsense such as:
Trying to escape, littering, loitering, exposing indecent liquids to public eye, ect. ect.
I am a not heartless man though. I realize these simpletons are scared and confused. Which is why I hired a man in a silly animal costume to dance around in the various human waste produced by the reds and help ease the nerves of the redshirts. Allow them to think about something other than what is inevitably coming to them.
There's openrct which tries to merge the best of both RCT1 and 2.It needs some polishing because it's a fairly new project, but it has great potential if they go all the way for their idea.

A while ago I was playing a board game and I kept being ****** , so I said: "The ride never ends", not knowing that the random people on this boardgame site apperently also browse the internet a lot. Joys were had.
