What YouTube needs is competition. If they suddenly started losing views, and by extension, advertisers, because another website took easily hosting and sharing videos seriously, they'd shape the hell up.

That's why we need someone to make a site out of passion. not for greed and money

Yeah, I agree. But there's not way of doing that without also harming the YouTubers.

If someone made a site out of a passion to produce an alternative and not really thinking about the money (the money made from a site that gives youtube a run for its money would be substantial anyways unless you're just greedy) and refused to be bought out they wouldnt have a way to stop them short of making up things to sue about and using their money to hire "super lawyers" like apple does.

Youtube would have to suck even worse to make competition viable. Once it becomes easier to host and view videos somewhere else, the switch will begin to happen.

I gave in and linked my account to stop it. What pisses me off the most is that I have to sign out then sign in every time i go to YouTube just to comment on a video or it will say " please sign in again to comment." For some reason I cant remember my password so I have to keep changing it.

I spent those months trying to remember everything I liked watching before Google was like "hey, just switch back."

Youtube isn't actually making you use your real name. Just look at this. The ones with my real name aren't really youtube accounts, if i try to comment with them it asks me to set up a youtube profile which i haven't done and never will.

to stop bullying! think of the children! but probably so "anonymous trolling" doesnt happen as much (not saying it will ever go away, getting around it is super easy but some kids would get intimidated into not saying hurtful things if their name was tied to the account and they didnt know how to get rid of it). Or maybe just to spy on people, I don't know but a lot of the conspiracy theories about privacy breech are seemingly coming true so not a lot if out of the realm of possibilities

YouTube has been a really boring site for years. The way it's set up, the popular ones get more and more popular as they keep posting their monotonous videos, while new videos don't get any views at all unless you go out of your way to advertise them.

A few years ago I could post a video and get 1000s of views and a fair amount of comments. Now I would be lucky to even get more than 50 views and any comment apart from your typical 'lol' or advertising spam. YouTube is just a huge dumpster now.
