Bill Nye the Science Guy is on Netflix now. You can hear him speak all you want!

Yeah, he descended far from what he was a couple decades ago, IMHO. Used to be an educator, now he just uses his fame as a podium for his political opinions, some of which have no basis in science.

How close is another species to coming to our level of intelligence, cognition, and awareness?
User avatar #13 to #12 - niteghost (05/27/2015) [-]
The monkey that is most closely related to us is not seen in zoos due to the fact that they just constantly have sex. Same goes with certain dolphins.

I ain't no professional though.

It says every 2 hours.. However, when they are in zoos its more frequent...

"The species is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List and is threatened by habitat destruction and human population growth and movement, though commercial poaching is the most prominent threat."

Not weird they are boning like hell. They are just trying to stay alive as a race as we go on destroying their habitat.

There are chimpanzees making and using spears. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Dolphins and elephants.
Elephants can feel emotion and mourn very similarly to how humans do.

Don't dolphins have an actual language? as in it has consistent structure and vocabulary?
User avatar #27 to #26 - darksideofthebeast (05/27/2015) [-]
I believe they do, but I think I've heard its more connected to vibrations rather than a certain string of specific noises.
I could be wrong though, I don't know much about that.

Cows can feel humiliation..
#15 to #12 - anon (05/27/2015) [-]
Dolphins, they can recognize themselves in mirrors, play for fun, rape womyn, take drugs, get sexually frustrated and it's being investigated over whether they actually have a language.
They have complex social relations and a respected hierarchy, India has already deemed that zoos may not keep them and has granted them rights as 'non-human persons'.

None of the above was a joke either, about the drugs or rape.
This is why it's really frowned upon when places like SeaWorld keep them and reduce them to tourist attractions.

You know what this means, don't you?
They're evolving! This fish will go back and inform its other friends of the witchcraft that took place this day and it will go on to shape fish culture and religeon for the forseeable future..... Or i just watch way to much science fiction.
