Construction and visual measuring are both valid ways of drawing from reference. Best when used together, of course, but you don't have to use construction when drawing from a reference.

That said, you have to use construction when drawing from imagination (at least do it in your head by visualizing it if you're good enough to do that). Like you said.

Yeah, I get that theres different methods and preferences but I feel construction is objectivly superior, I mean I know people WAY better than me who hate using costructiion and work off of value block ins but they had to learn their basics before they could do that well.
