i mean....hes not wrong

but personally ive found it easiest (when drawing monochromatically) to just ....never actually draw anything, but rather shade
--because if you break it down even further, there are no shapes at all. no defining lines in anything. its just a probability distribution of how many photons are hitting your eye from any one area at certain angles

so i "draw" by lightly shading. the heavier the shadow, the longer i shade in that particular area

i guess you kind of have to do what he said above first before you can accurately move on to what im talking about, but here are some examples (keep in mind, I haven't drawn **** for years, and most of these that i've bothered to save were when i was just starting out. i.e. they are crap)

of course sometimes you can end up going too far with shading

thats what happened here and since it was in pen, i tried to shade more to cover it up

end result being a ridiculously unproportional young woman XD
